Both Natalya and Arthur are pentathletes, and they both represented Ireland at the London 2012 Olympics and the Rio 2016 games, and their love for the sport is what first brought them together.

News of their beautiful wedding was shared by Natalya on Instagram, as she uploaded a number of photos taken from the special day, including one of the couple kissing at the altar, and another showing off her breathtaking gown.

Along with the series of photos, the Olympian wrote: ‘Husband & Wife. My heart couldn’t be more full. Celebrating with my closest friends & marrying the man of my dreams. I’m still trying to catch a breath after the weekend so I may be quiet for a little.’

Arthur also uploaded a photo from the couple’s wedding day but kept the caption simple with groom and bride emojis.

The couple got engaged back in May 2020, however, it wasn’t always plain sailing, as after they first met, they were actually rivals for a little while.

Speaking about this to The Sports Chronicle in an interview, Natalya said: ‘It was a friendship first. And then totally a rivalry, and then a friendship again. I had no one to compete against so watching what Arthur and the other guys were doing drove me on. We both understand there is one goal and there will be bumps on the road.’

Arthur chimed in to show just how well they get on, admitting it’s rare that they have a bad day with one another:

‘Not all days are good days but usually, we don’t have a bad day together. One of us can pick the other one up. Maybe I’ll drive to training or cook dinner, or the other way round.’

The pair have their shared love for the pentathlon, and Arthur was Natalya’s biggest support as she flew to Tokyo 2020 this year, despite the random luck of the draw for her horse dashing her chances for a medal.

From the excitement of the morning to the reception, the film shows the requisite chats about the weather, the haggle over the beef or salmon, the losing of the rings, and the intergenerational whirl around the dancefloor. The fly-on-the-wall documentary aims to act as a portrait of Ireland through the Irish wedding or more particularly the wedding speech. Alex Fegan captures all that is familiar but also conveys the momentousness of the day, throughout the show.
