Don’t think that this will become another top 40 hit for Land Rover like the Range Rover Sport, Evoque, and Velar models – only 999 are set to be built, and all with a hefty asking price of over £200,000.

Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicles Operations on the outskirts of Coventry will be handling the construction of these limited-run giants, which are perfect for people who love the impracticality of a BMW X6 or Mercedes GLE Coupe but want to spend far too much money.

The design simultaneously harks back to recent BMW concept cars and even the company's older use of circular headlights – the golden era, as it's not really known.

Meet the Range Rover SV , which Land Rover calls “the world’s first full-size luxury SUV Coupe ,” throwing giant shade on all the other SUV makers who have stuck the “ coupe ” name on their vehicles. As you can see here, it’s actually deserved, as it’s down two doors like the Range Rovers of yesterday.

Created by Land Rover Design and Special Vehicle Operations, SV Coupé is the epitome of Range Rover design, craftsmanship and capability. Featuring a dramatic two- door silhouette combined with enhanced luxury and exquisite craftsmanship within.

Of course, this being a Range Rover the company isn’t leaving off-road capability out of the equation – all 999 SV Coupes get air suspension as standard that’s designed to maximise comfort at a cruise by lowering the car 15mm, but it can increase the ride height up to 75mm when it gets to the rough stuff.

Permanent four-wheel drive features a two-speed transfer box and locking rear differential, and the SV Coupe has a wading depth of 900mm should you want to drive out to your yacht instead of waiting for the tender.

Distinguished and luxurious

Land Rover says this is the most ‘distinguished and luxurious’ Range Rover it has ever built – reflected not just in the styling and price tag but also the hefty range of customisation possibilities there are.

BMW M2 vs used M135i: is our modified hot hatch as fun to drive? .
The BMW M135i is a good yet flawed car. But what if you could fix its shortcomings? Six years ago, the M135i really was a game changer. Despite costing less than £30,000, it brought a premium badge, rear-wheel-drive dynamics and more than 300bhp to a sector that hadn’t seen that set of attributes before. It was very good to drive too. And in an instant, a front-driven Ford or Vauxhall with two-hundred-and-something-bhp didn’t seem particularly clever.
