A new Volkswagen we can’t get here.

We got our first look at the VW Viloran back in September when spy photos of the large people mover emerged. Now, two months later, Volkswagen has officially unveiled the estate-like minivan at the 2019 Guangzhou Auto Show with two other models. It’s VW’s first luxury MPV for China, and it’s scheduled to launch in the first half of next year.

VW’s press release announcing the new model is light on details. It’ll measure more than 5.3 metres and will be VW’s largest model. It features a 2-2-3 style cabin layout with executive seats with electric footrests, double headrests, dual-sided automatic sledding doors, and Royal Hall-level Dynaudio audio system.

The new model is rumoured to ride on VW’s MQB platform, the company’s modular platform designed for traverse-mounted, front-engine, front- or all-wheel-drive vehicles. It will underpin much of the VW lineup going forward. Power is said to come from a turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine making 220 bhp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It’ll be called the Viloran 380 TSI.

Chinese troops practice marching ahead of a October 1 military parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on the outskirts of Beijing, China September 25, 2019. With that in mind, authorities are donating the 32-inch LCD TVs—made by a domestic brand, of course—to ensure that poor Chinese households can’t miss the proceedings, according to Xinhua. It’s hard to imagine a Western government doing that.

The VW Viloran packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 220 PS (217 hp) and 350 According to reports from China , SAIC- VW has already begun production of the big posh minivan , which is expected to China ’s VW Viloran Minivan Debuts As Buick GL8, Lexus LM Rival.

Like most significant automotive brands, Volkswagen is working on models designed specifically for the Chinese market, which is the biggest in the world. People's tastes in cars are different there to those in Europe or America

The Viloran looks more crossover than like a minivan, and that was probably intentional. While minivans do sell, they don’t sell like crossovers. That could explain why the Viloran looks so much more like a Renault Espace and less like a Ford Galaxy. It has a long bonnet, steeply raked windshield, and styled hatch.

Info and photos are just as scarce as the details about the oily bits. However, we can see the second-row captain chairs with the electric footrests and cushioned headrests in the press photos.

The Volkswagen Viloran will compete against the Buick GL8 and Lexus LM when it arrives next year in China. Russia could also receive the model, but VW has yet to specify which other markets will get its new minivan. The Viloran was shown at the auto show alongside the Tacqua and Touareg PHEV.

Chrysler to Go Mainstream with new Compact Sedan and Hybrid Minivan .
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) unveiled its five-year business plan today, which includes an ambitious goal for the Chrysler brand to reach 800,000 worldwide sales by 2018, a level it last reached back in 2005 before the Great Recession. Chrysler hopes to hit that goal by adding to and heavily revamping its current and relatively thin lineup. Also, it will shift its focus from a luxury to a more mainstream brand as Dodge solidifies itself as FCA's By 2016 we can expect an all-new Chrysler Town & Country minivan, including a plug-in electric hybrid variant that will return a claimed 75 mpg. That would make Chrysler the first to offer a hybrid powertrain in a minivan, assuming another automaker doesn’t beat it to the punch.
