The SEAT Tarraco SUV line-up has been expanded with a model that combines front-wheel-drive and a seven-speed automatic gearbox for the first time. Prices start at £29,900 for the car in SE trim, rising to £33,485 for the range-topping XCellence Lux version. The car is on sale now, with the first cars scheduled for delivery in early 2020.

Featuring the same turbocharged 148bhp 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as the existing manual model, this new front-wheel-drive Tarraco is equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox that helps to shave 0.2 seconds from the 0-62mph time of the manual equivalent, reducing it to 9.5 seconds. Fuel economy and emissions are claimed to be 35.3-39.2mpg and 164g/km of CO2 respectively.

The entry-level Tarraco SE features 17-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and LED headlights as standard. Inside, standard kit includes an eight-inch infotainment screen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity and three-zone climate control. An array of safety kit also features, with roll over assist, lane assist and cruise control all standard.

Further up the range, the XCellence models adds 20-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, ambient interior lighting, heated front and rear seats, an electronically operated tailgate and an upgraded eight-inch infotainment system with sat nav. Additional safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera.
