SEAT has added range-topping FR and FR Sport trim levels to the Tarraco family SUV range. The trim levels add sporty styling enhancements and extra technology. Prices begin at £31,680 for the Tarraco FR and rise to £39,820 for the FR Sport.

The pricing of the FR and FR Sport models puts them at the top of the Tarraco range, above the current Xcellence and Xcellence Lux trims, which focus on luxury.

The FR trim levels feature some purely cosmetic changes, with the engines on offer remaining identical to the rest of the Tarraco range. The Tarraco FR comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, a body kit, a tailgate spoiler, gloss black wing mirrors, roof rails and twin exhaust pipes. An electrically adjustable driver’s seat and front parking sensors are also standard.

The FR Sport gets 20-inch alloy wheels and adds SEAT’s Winter Pack, which includes heated washer jets and heated front and rear seats, plus a 360-degree camera and black leather upholstery.

The FR models build on the Tarraco’s existing standard equipment list, which includes a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, automatic LED headlights, three-zone climate control, rear parking sensors and an eight-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The engines on offer are already available to Tarraco buyers. The two petrol options are a 148bhp 1.5-litre or a 187bhp 2.0-litre that comes with an automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive as standard. Diesel buyers have a choice of a 2.0-litre engine with either 148bhp or 187bhp, with the more powerful version also coming with four-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox as standard.

A plug-in hybrid model of the Tarraco, available in both FR and Xcellence trims, is due later in 2020. It will feature a 148bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a 13kWh battery and a 113bhp electric motor. It will become the most powerful Tarraco in the range when it arrives in showrooms, reaching 0-62mph in 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 135mph.
