An updated Hyundai Kona with a new front end is due later this year, and the facelift will incorporate other updates, potentially including a new touchscreen and paint options.

We’re set to get more details in the coming weeks and it’s thought that the new Kona will make its debut before the end of the year. When it reaches showrooms in 2021, it may be slightly more expensive than the current car, which starts from £18,250. The Kona is Hyundai’s answer to the SEAT Arona, Renault Captur and Nissan Juke.

The Kona is set to keep its distinctive styling, albeit with a tidier design that’s likely to tie in with the new Hyundai Santa Fe seven-seater. There’s a new grille that’s not as tall but much wider, and a redesigned lower air intake with new fins. These images all show LED headlights, which may now come as standard given the new shape of the light clusters.

A sporty Hyundai Kona N Line will join the range as part of the facelift, getting exclusive styling tweaks to set it apart from other models. There are three vents above the grille, a new mesh pattern and model-specific air intakes and bumpers. This version will also get exclusive paint colours and bigger alloy wheel options.

The N Line also suggests how the forthcoming Hyundai Kona N might look, because we expect it’ll share many of the same styling details. Range-topping N models will have a powerful engine, and will be marked out by a large spoiler and red brake calipers.

Hyundai hasn’t revealed any other details about the facelifted Kona yet but it’s likely it’ll come with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen with fewer buttons, like the one in the facelifted i30. Kona N Line models will get red stitching and sportier-looking seats.
