That’s the agency which administers intellectual property rights and legislation The images reveal the 2022 Civic Sedan looks exactly the same as the hatchback from the front end up to the C-pillars – the glasshouse is identical.

The new Civic is tasked with replacing both its predecessor and the bigger Honda Accord, so it’ll grow in size. These images show that it’ll also get a more restrained design, with less intricate headlights, a grille like the one on the latest Honda Jazz, and a more conventional tailgate style - albeit with a nice full-width light bar.

Honda is planning to electrify almost its entire range by 2022, and the new Civic is going to get at least one hybrid option. Most likely is a modified version of the Jazz’s clever hybrid engine, which pairs a 1.5-litre petrol with two electric motors. The Jazz manages 0-62mph in 9.5 seconds and nearly 63mpg, and the Civic will need to post similar figures if buyers are going to switch from the current 1.6-litre diesel.

Honda Stops Civic Si, Drops Civic Coupe, and Shuts Down Fit for 2021 . Civic fans: Don’t sweat these changes, which make way for a new one. Fit fans: You’re almost out of time.

The Civic XI forum scooped up these patent images on Tuesday that appear to show both the sedan and hatchback models undisguised, though void of any Honda badging. I will absolutely reserve final judgement for a later date, but in a first take, this looks rather mundane for a brand new car.

It’s not known whether a fully electric Civic is in the pipeline. An electric Civic would need a much bigger battery and motor than the Honda e, which only has a small battery and limited driving range. We expect that the only Civic not to get some sort of electrification will be the upcoming Honda Civic Type R.

The Civic will no longer be built in Swindon because the factory is set to close in 2021. A new four-door Civic saloon will be offered in other markets but it’s very unlikely to come to the UK because so few people bought it here; it’s been discontinued while the Honda Civic hatchback remains on sale.

2020 Honda Civic Si Road-Trip Review: Comfortably Sporty .
A lot of folks who aren’t car enthusiasts tend to believe you’re making a lot of compromises when you buy the sporty version of a car. Miserable ride quality, useless rear seats (if any), equally useless trunk, terrible fuel economy, and more. In some rather extreme cases, that’s true. It’s not true at all forI grew up in a rural area on the other side of the mountain from Silicon Valley, but it was plenty close enough to see the wealth that lived high in those hills. Back then, though, it was stealth wealth. At least to me.
