Mel B in hot water with divorce judge

Mel B in hot water with divorce judge Mel B is in trouble with the judge overseeing her contentious domestic violence trial after a series of delays. Mel, real name Melanie Brown, missed a deposition for which she was scheduled to appear in Los Angeles on Friday (03Nov17) because she is filming a commercial in Australia - and Judge Mark Juhas was not impressed. “There’s no way we are not starting this (trial) on the 13th (of November),” he said firmly of the upcoming proceedings. The upcoming trial will first address Mel's claims of domestic violence against her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte, before concluding with the America's Got Talent judge's petition for divorce. The former Spice Girls star split from her former legal team days ago and claims that a "breakdown" in communications with her new lawyers, Susan Wiesner and Larry Bakman, is to blame for her missing the critical court date on Friday. Belafonte's lawyer, Philip Cohen, was also furious, telling the Los Angeles Superior Court judge that Mel's failure to appear was grounds for throwing out the case entirely. But Juhas sided with Mel, adding, "I hope she is telling the truth.” Mel filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years in March, alleging Stephen abused her mentally and physically throughout their 10 year marriage. Stephen denies all the accusations and has accused his soon-to-be ex of exhibiting a “habitual and consistent addiction” to cocaine and alcohol during their relationship. Court officials have also been told that Mel lived a life so "extravagant" she has already "wiped out" the huge $50 million (£38 million) fortune she amassed during her time as a Spice Girl.

Judge Brinkley' s lawyer says the judge bears no grudge against Meek and insists she's been fair from the start. So, if the PA Supreme Court was trying to gently suggest that Brinkley remove herself from the case , the message Meek Mill ' s Lawyer Joe Tacopina Calls Rapper's Prison Release Bittersweet.

On Monday (06Nov17), Pennsylvania judge Genece Brinkley ruled Mill, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, should serve at least two years behind bars for breaking the terms of his probation from a 2008 drug and gun bust after agreeing to plea deals following two arrests earlier this year (17).

Her punishment came as a surprise to Mill and his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, as the prosecutors in the case had recommended he be spared jail.

T.I. urges Meek Mill to learn and plan behind bars

T.I. urges Meek Mill to learn and plan behind bars Rapper T.I. has urged Meek Mill to learn as much as he can while serving time behind bars for a parole violation. Nicki Minaj's ex was sentenced to serve between two and four years in prison for a series of breaches earlier this week (beg06Nov17), and the rap world has come to his support, with stars like JAY-Z calling the hip-hop star's return to jail "unjust and heavy handed". Now T.I. is speaking out, calling Meek's prison stint "excessive" and suggesting lawmakers "didn't want him to make it". But, now it's a done deal and the rap star, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, is going back to prison, the Live Your Life star, who spent 11 months behind bars for weapons possession, has some sage advice. "Learn as much as you can and just strategise for the moment you step out of there," he tells TMZ. "Strategise for your comeback." Meek Mill was convicted of drug dealing and gun possession in 2008, and received a prison sentence of 11-to-23 months. Upon his release in 2009, he was placed on probation, but struggled to stick to the terms of the arrangement. On Monday (06Nov17), Pennsylvania judge Genece Brinkley sentenced Mill, to two-to-four years behind bars for the probation violation. Responding to the news, JAY-Z said, "The sentence handed down by the Judge - against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer - is unjust and heavy handed.

Now, Tacopina is trying to get Judge Genece Brinkley removed from Meek Mill ' s case altogether. Tacopina claimed Judge Brinkley originally wanted Meek to create a remix to Boys II Men's "On Meek apparently declined. At another point, the judge , who Meek ' s lawyer says is also from

Meek Mill ' s legal saga takes a new turn. Meek Mill ' s recent prison sentence certainly hasn't been a decision that has sat well with the hip-hop community. For these reasons, among several others, Meek ' s lawyer is now taking steps to have the judge removed from this case altogether.

Mill checked in to prison on Wednesday (08Nov17), but his legal representative has already started working on his client's appeal and he is now seeking to remove Brinkley from the case altogether, citing a number of accusations of misconduct.

Among the incidents Tacopina will be detailing in his court filing includes the judge's alleged recommendation that Meek record a cover of Boys II Men's On Bended Knee and give her a 'shout out' - an idea the rapper scoffed at last year (16).

According to Tacopina, Meek's ex-girlfriend, Nicki Minaj, was a witness to the exchange, which took place in the judge's chambers after she requested a private chat during a hearing.

The lawyer also alleges Brinkley told Meek to leave his deal at Roc Nation and sign to her friend's management firm.

"Based on her conduct over the years, we knew there was an issue," Tacopina told The Fader. "His probation was supposed to end in 2013, and here it is, nearly 2018, and he's still on probation for technical violations, travel violations - just doing work, which nobody gets violated for. It's allowed her to extend her control over him for another five years."

He went on to state he plans to ask court officials to "recuse (Judge Brinkley) from any consideration in this case," adding, "We will do whatever we need to do to make sure this perversion of justice is corrected."

Meek Mill heading to court for bail hearing .
Rapper Meek Mill is heading back to court for a bail hearing. The Ima Boss hitmaker is currently serving a two-to-four-year prison sentence for violating the terms of his probation relating to a 2008 drug and gun bust. He checked in to prison last week (ends10Nov17), but Billboard.com reports he will return to court to face Judge Genece Brinkley on 27 November (17). Meek Mill's lawyers have filed a request to have Judge Brinkley removed from the case, claiming she has a personal vendetta against the rapper, real name Robert Williams, and ignored the recommendation of Williams' probation officer by sentencing him to more prison time. Her decision was made after he reportedly refused her suggestions to record a cover of a Boyz II Men song and leave his management deal at Jay-Z's Roc Nation label to work with Charlie Mack, a Philadelphia music executive she reportedly had a business relationship with. Mack claims he doesn't know Brinkley. Her alleged actions are also said to be under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). "When she requests he leaves his current management Roc Nation - which is one of the most important management companies in the world - and goes back to a local Philadelphia guy who has a spotted past because she had a personal relationship with him as manager, again, she's doing something that a judge would never be doing, having a personal interest," Joe Tacopina, one of Meek's attorneys, told the publication earlier this month. The 30-year-old's lawyers also filed a motion to appeal his prison term and have his probation terminated. The attorneys also requested to have the rapper released from solitary confinement and Tacopina confirms this has now taken place.
