Stormzy was the big winner at the MOBO Awards, picking up three accolades.

The 24-year-old grime artist won Best Male Act, Best Album for 'Gang Signs & Prayer' and completed his hat-trick with the Best Grime Artist prize at the Leeds First Direct Arena in Leeds, West Yorkshire, last night (29.11.17).

He tweeted afterwards: "3 MOBO's, love you all, thank you (sic)"

Stormzy could've won five gongs but he was beaten in the Best Song category by J Hus for his track 'Did You See', and he also missed out on Best Video, which went to Mist for 'Hot Property'.

Other winners at the event included Craig David, who was named BestR&B/Soul Act, and Damian Marley - son of the late, great Bob Marley - picked up the Best Reggae Act prize.

Stefflon Don won Best Female Act, while Giggs took home Best Hip Hop Act and Dave was awarded Best Newcomer.

A special award went to actor and DJ Idris Elba, who was handed the Paving The Way Award for his achievements in the arts and his contribution to British culture, and the 'Luther' star felt "humbled" by the achievement.

He said: "I feel incredibly humbled to receive this honour. I have always felt a need to shine a light and pay a lasting tribute to the place that helped shape me in Hackney. Thank you MOBO for finally giving me that opportunity with Paving The Way.

"As someone who once faced homelessness, I know how important it is to have access to something better, to feel inspired and reach for your dreams.

"I'm blessed to have this chance to lay a paving stone in the place that I hold so dear and leave a legacy for future generations."

It was also a good night for Stormzy's girlfriend Maya Jama, who co-hosted the event in its 22nd year alongside former JLS star Marvin Humes.

The 'Big For Your Boots' rapper has had a phenomenal year thanks to his award-winning LP 'Gangs, Signs & Prayers' and topped it off picking up the biggest prize of the night at the annual bash, which was broadcast on Friday (08.12.17).Stormzy said: "I'm actually blessed to be able to say that I'm an artist that's managed to be regarded as someone that's worthy of this award.
