Why did Harry Potter never win any Oscars?

Why did Harry Potter never win any Oscars? It’s the second-biggest film franchise of all-time and beloved by millions across the globe, but although it was nominated for 12 Academy Awards across eight movies, the Harry Potter series never won one. Thankfully, the Wizarding World was finally recognised by the Academy in 2017 when Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them broke the hoodoo, winning Best Costume Design for Colleen Atwood. The 2018 follow up Crimes of Grindelwald didn’t receive any Oscar nods. But why did its hugely successful predecessors get completely overlooked by the Oscars? We have some theories. Actor Ralph Fiennes talks about his character Lord Voldemort and the final battle between himself and Harry Potter !

Actor Ralph Fiennes recently shared in an interview with Digital Spy that he almost didn’t play the role of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film franchise. I had seen the first Harry Potter film, and I didn’t feel that sort of material was something that appealed to me…But then my sister rang me up

"The truth is I was actually ignorant about the films and the books," Fiennes says. "I was approached by the production. Mike Newell was directing the film that they wanted me to be in… the first time Voldemort was going to appear physically.

"Out of ignorance I just sort of thought, this isn’t for me… Quite stupidly I resisted, I was hesitant. I think the clincher was that my sister Martha – who has three children who were then probably about 12, 10 and 8 – she said, 'What do you mean? You’ve got to do it!' So then I rewound my thinking."
