  The places where Christmas never ends The holiday season is upon us, and that means cities and towns the world over twinkle with lights and buzz with Christmas cheer. But, in some destinations, the festivities never end. From tinsel-doused towns to Santa-focused theme parks, we've picked 22 places that celebrate Christmas the whole year through.

The Late Late Tribute Special to Shane MacGowan drew mixed reviews as some people were delighted that the legendary Pogues frontman was being feted, while others though felt ‘uncomfortable’ watching.

Shane who looked frail in front of the cameras and some took to Twitter to even accuse RTÉ of using him to boost ratings.

But there was one very definitive thing that Shane ensured there was no arguing about and that was his best known song Fairytale of New York.

  There's no way the State will bail out the FAI, says Ross over €10m request Sports Minister Shane Ross has turned down a €10m bailout request from the FAI as it struggles with debts of €55m. Mr Ross, who is due to appear before the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport tomorrow, made it clear to the FAI last night that it's up to European football's governing body, Uefa, and not the State to provide it with a financial lifeline.

However Shane faced down the criticism of Fairytale of New York, as only Shane can, in the most punk, devil-may-care way.

Pic: Andres Poveda When Ryan asked whether some of the lyrics to Fairytale of New York were a little dated singer Lisa o’Neill stood up for the star and stated that ‘Shane finishes his songs.’

Shane weighed into the conversation with a cheeky innocently asking Ryan, ‘what’s wrong with it?’ before adding: ‘I’ve heard it’s offensive to gays.’ 

Ryan explained that the word ‘f*****’ could be deemed offensive to which Shane responded: ‘oh f*** off’.

Twitter it seems agreed with the singer. One person posted:

Warne auctions 'baggy green' for fire victims .
Shane Warne will auction his baggy green Test cap to raise funds towards the bushfire relief efforts in Australia. Australian sports figures, along with several international tennis players, have pledged to raise funds in support of recovery efforts for victims across the states of Victoria and New South Wales.Since September, fires in Australia have killed 24 people and an estimated 500 million animals, with over 1,000 homes destroyed and millions of hectares of land scorched.
