Dancing on Ice added another level of difficulty to the skating competition tonight (February 16) as the celebrities contended with props week, with everything from an umbrella to a shopping trolley being used in very creative ways.

There were strong performances all around but it was athlete Libby Clegg and Mark Hanretty who landed in the skate-off against Love Island 2019 star Maura Higgins and Alexander Demetriou after they received the lowest combined scores from judges Ashley Banjo, John Barrowman, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean and the general public for their routines.

It ended up being Maura and Alexander's turn to skate off the show after the judges gave their verdicts.

Ashley chose to save Maura and Alexander as he felt more of a connection to their routine, while John also saved the couple after calling their performance "beautiful".

Jayne decided to save Libby and Mark, saying that Libby's quality of skating had impressed her, before Chris agreed with Jayne's decision - and with Chris acting as head judge this week, his choice meant that Maura and Alexander were the next couple to be voted out.

"I really did want to stay," a tearful Maura said after her elimination, while Alexander praised his partner for being "genuine".

The sixth series of Dancing on Ice aired from 9 January to 27 March 2011 on ITV. In another change, the judges gave scores out of 10.0 instead of 6.0, giving an overall total out of 30.0. The line-up was revealed on 18 December 2010 and consisted of sixteen celebrities. Note: Only eight couples skated this week, with six going through to qualify for the competition .

Libby and Mark skated to 'A Thousand Miles' by Vanessa Carlton with a suitcase, which the judges awarded 33.5 points (8.5 + 8.5 + 8.5 + 8.0).

Ex-EastEnders actor and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star Joe Swash and his stand-in partner Alex Murphy performed an energetic routine with a giant candy cane to 'Candy' by Robbie Williams, which earned them a score of 34 points (8.5 + 8.5 + 8.5 + 8.5).

Maura and Alexander performed a routine with a broom to Alesha Dixon's 'The Boy Does Nothing' and scored 30 (7.5 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 7.5).

Magician Ben Hanlin and Carlotta Edwards skated to 'Summer Holiday' by Cliff Richard and The Shadows with an umbrella, which earned them a huge 36 points (9.0 + 9.0 + 9.0 + 9.0).

Coronation Street actress Lisa George and Tom Naylor skated with a chair - which resulted in a couple of wobbles - to 'La Vie En Rose' by Louis Armstrong and scored 31.5 (8.0 + 7.5 + 8.0 + 8.0).

Professional skater Hamish Gaman, who has been performing in group routines, did not appear on tonight's show after he released a statement on Twitter explaining that he has been "struggling" over the past few weeks.

This week's show opened with a tribute by hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to late presenter Caroline Flack, who tragically passed away yesterday (February 15) at the age of 40.

An emotional Phillip said: "We'd like to begin tonight's show by taking a moment to remember Caroline Flack. In light of yesterday's awful news we wanted to say that our hearts go out to her family and friends."

Holly then continued: "Many of us here on the show knew Caroline as a friend and will all miss her enormously. As Caroline herself recently posted, in a world where you can be anything, be kind."
