The programme is similar in format to Love Island, but with couples participating to test the strength of their relationships.

The American equivalent is hosted by Mark Wahlberg, and the Ibrox icon has signed on for the the Italian version on Canale 5.

Amoruso will compete alongside girlfriend Manila Nazzaro, a former Miss Italia whom he has been dating for the past three years.

The former Rangers star has "always been a bachelor" according to the show's website while his partner is divorced with two children.

She said: "We are sure of ourselves and we want to test our relationship.

The couples will be split up for 21 days, with the men spending their time with 11 single women and the women with 12 single men.

Their girlfriends and boyfriends will be able to see "significant extracts" of what their partner is up to while they're separated.

Each couple's journey will end with host Filippo Bisciglia asking: "do you want to leave with the person you arrived with?".

This is not Amoruso's first foray into reality television, as he also competed in the Italian version of Celebrity Masterchef in 2018.
