The road to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has been far from straightforward, but director James Gunn has offered fans a promising update about the movie's filming schedule.

With the Guardians threequel now expected to hit cinemas in 2022, Gunn has reassured fans that recent rumours of a possible delay are "false", and that Marvel's plans "have not changed" for a while.

Responding to a fan about "rumours of a delay", the director wrote: "I can confirm that the plans for when we're filming #GotGVol3 & when it's being released have not changed at all over the past year & a half or so.

"Any rumors otherwise are false. I appreciate your caution!"

Although we're in for a wait when it comes to Guardians 3, Gunn has been giving fans their fill by revealing a series of on-set photos of the cast and crew on the original movie.
