After last season's all-new gender neutral and totally virtual London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Council has moved forward with the SS21 season as both a digital and physical event.

With Covid-19 regulations constantly being re-appraised by the government (the latest social guidelines being the 'rule of six'), and the importance of safety being paramount, the BFC's new hybrid schedule will ensure designers who wish to host small physical events are able to (under strict guidelines), while others can broadcast their new collections to the world online.

With picnic baskets, Christian Siriano puts on backyard show

WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) — Christian Siriano, who turned his atelier into a mask-making machine, took to his Connecticut backyard Thursday for a cozy fashion show complete with picnic baskets for his small in-person crowd, masks on the faces of his models and a dip in his pool for pregnant muse Coco Rocha. “We just needed an escape,” he told The Associated Press after his cheery parade of ball gowns, prints that included panels from comic books and looks emblazoned in black and white with a simple message: “VOTE."For the rest of the fashion industry, Siriano livestreamed the show on a sunny, mild day, with his garden as backdrop and his grass as runway.

Thursday 17 - Day 1 LFW SS21

For the first official day of the SS21 London Fashion Week, heritage British brand Burberry will be kicking off the proceedings with a film.

At 1pm GMT Burberry will be streaming their hotly-anticipated SS21 film in lieu of their traditional live runway event.

Last season chief creative officer of Burberry group Riccardo Tisci flew in all the supers - namely Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Irina Shayk and both Gigi and Bella Hadid - for the season-closing show.

History on screen: East Germany through its filmmakers' eyes
