Max Bowden has been left heartbroken after his beloved grandfather lost his battle with cancer.
Thestar, who is known for portraying Ben Mitchell in the popular BBC soap opera, took to his Instagram feed to share the sad news with his 167,000 followers.
The 25 year old, whose, shared a close-up photo of himself holding his grandfather's hand before penning a touching tribute.

Max Bowden is the sixth actor to play Ben Mitchell on EastEnders and has been loved-up with his onscreen boyfriend Callum 'Halfway' Highway, played by Tony Clay.The 25 year old actor, who previously starred in Waterloo Road and Casualty, spent lockdown with his real-life girlfriend Danielle McCarney, who he lives with, after filming was suspended on the BBC soap due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the caption, he wrote: "Hi all. On Monday evening I lost my grandad to his battle with cancer."
The star went on to explaining that he took part in a challenge in an attempt to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support after the charity helped his grandfather through his struggle with the disease.
He continued: "In his last weeks he was overwhelmed by the amazing love and care the @macmillancancer nurses provided him with.

"For that reason I am reposting my longest day challenge website in the hope of raising more money for them.
"Please give generously if you can. Thank you. The website is https://longestdaygolf.macmillan.org.uk/Team/raysgeese," Max, whose, added.
The Longest Day challenge, which Max completed with two friends, saw teams taking on 72 golf holes in just 24 hours to raise funds for Macmillan.
Fans have been flooding the fundraising page to donate to the cause ever since.
Celebrity friends were also quick to comment on the post to offer their support and condolences for his tragic loss as Luisa Bradshaw White, who portrays the character Tina Carter, wrote: "I’m sorry Max," followed by three pink heart emojis.
His pal Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown, posted three black heart emojis while Dean Gaffney, who formerly played Robbie Jackson, shared two red heart emojis.
Balvinder Sopal, who portrays Suki Panesar, said: "Oh Max, so sorry to hear this. Love and strength always," with a praying hands emoji and a red heart emoji.
And Natalie Cassidy, who portrays Sonia Fowler, added: "Love you Max x".
