French Open faces possible Covid-lawsuit amid tight health rules and new crowd limit

French Open faces possible Covid-lawsuit amid tight health rules and new crowd limit A Bosnian competitor of this year’s French Open has threatened to sue organisers of the claycourt major following his forced withdrawal over what he claims was a “false positive Covid test”. The backlash comes as Roland Garros chiefs prepared to drastically cut crowd capacity to 1,000 fans a day. Having been pushed back four months to September to avoid the worst of the Covid pandemic, the French Open at Roland Garros faces a potential lawsuit from a disgruntled Bosnian competitor and a fresh tightening of its health safety rules.

The 124th French Open sees Rafael Nadal in his bid for a 13th clay crown and 20th title, while Novak Djokovic will be looking to right some wrongs following his US Open disqualification last month for striking a line judge with the ball. US Open 2020 champion Dominic Thiem will be hungry for silverware, as will in-form Alexander Zverev.

Scottish superstar Andy Murray continued his return to Grand Slam tennis in Paris, although crashed out in his First Round tie to Stan Wawrinka (who coincidentally was his victor in his last Roland-Garros appearance in 2017). Fourth seed Daniil Medvedev will also be sitting the rest of this one out after losing to Marton Fucsovics.

The 2019 women's singles Ashleigh Barty certainly won't be lifting her second Grand Slam tennis title; the world number one has pulled out citing coronavirus fears. Serena Williams started the campaign strong in a bid to reach her 24th Grand Slam, however injury forced her to pull out of at the second round stage.

Faced with the new restrictions, Roland-Garros further reduced its gauge to 1,000 spectators

Faced with the new restrictions, Roland-Garros further reduced its gauge to 1,000 spectators Three days before the opening of the Parisian Grand Slam, exceptionally rescheduled in the fall due to the Covid-19 pandemic, its audience gauge has been tightened once again, from 5,000 to 1,000 spectators per day.

Naomi Osaka – this year's US Open champion – has been forced to pull out after suffering a hamstring injury, too. With last year's runner-up, Marketa Vondrousova, falling at the first, the draw has certainly opened up. American starlight Coco Gauff remains in contention.

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) helps you get around this obstacle. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, such that the servers and services you’re accessing aren’t aware of what you’re doing. All the information passing back and forth is entirely encrypted.

There are many VPN providers out there, with some more reliable and safe than others. As a rule, we’d suggest a paid-for service such as ExpressVPN or NordVPN.

Once you’ve made your choice, all you need to do is sign in to your VPN service through whichever device you’d like to use to watch the match. When prompted to select a server, you need to pick one which is based in the country whose content you’d like to access. Then navigate to the relevant video streaming app or website and you’re in.
