The series came to an end last year but the resolution of the plot was met with a ton of backlash, including criticism from some cast members and a Change.org petition requesting the final season be remade, signed by nearly 2 million people.

In his new book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon, writer James Hibberd asked Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss about their thoughts on the negative response to the finale.

Benioff conceded that there "definitely are things" they'd do differently given a second chance.

Weiss was also reluctant to elaborate, explaining: "Prince once said something about how any record you listen to that you think is terrible, somebody worked themselves to the bone to make it.
