Moon Knight is coming to Disney+ and you should totally be excited. That’s because Moon Knight is basically Marvel’s Batman, even more so than Daredevil.

As such, it has the potential to be even cooler than Netflix’s Daredevil, and is a great way to start the new era of small screen MCU shows on Disney’s streaming service. It's not the first time Marvel's tried to adapt the character – but we're glad they've finally succeeded.

With Marc Spector's alter-ego obscure to anyone who doesn’t spend half their lives in their local comic-book store, however, the show will be something of a mystery to mainstream audiences.

Review: Charming 'Over the Moon' gets lost in lunar orbit

Review: Charming 'Over the Moon' gets lost in lunar orbit The acclaimed animator behind such powerful figures as Ariel, Aladdin, Tarzan and Rapunzel has a new heroine and she's going further than any of his creations — the moon. Twelve-year-old Fei Fei builds a handmade rocket to blast into outer space in the new Netflix movie musical “Over the Moon,” the first animated film backed by a major Hollywood studio to feature an entirely Asian cast. The film stars newcomer Cathy Ang as our plucky heroine, backed by such voice actors as “Hamilton” star Phillipa Soo, comedians Ken Jeong and Margaret Cho, “Star Trek” star John Cho, Broadway veterans Ruthie Ann Miles and Kimiko Glenn, and “Killing Eve” star Sandra Oh.

That’s where we swoop in, lit by moonlight, with a fistful of graphic novels to guide us.

Here’s everything you need to know about Moon Knight season one.

Moon Knight air date: When will Moon Knight be on?

Moon Knight was announced at Disney’s own official expo, D23 in August, 2019. It was confirmed to be streaming exclusively on Disney+, but no launch date was given.

But with a packed schedule of confirmed titles including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Loki in 2021, not to mention WandaVision which should be with us by the end of 2020, we don’t expect to see Moon Knight any time soon.

Therefore, we predict Moon Knight will debut in 2022, probably in the autumn. But don’t drag us into a back alley and beat us up if we’re wrong.

Helstrom marks the end of an era for Marvel Television

Helstrom marks the end of an era for Marvel Television It's time to wave goodbye to Marvel Television as we currently know itHowever, we shouldn't be so quick to move on. Yes, WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki will no doubt be fantastic, yet there was something charming and different about Marvel Television's MCU output. Where the movies were so carefully orchestrated by Kevin Feige, the shows had a much looser feel. Not everything was quite so connected, and that led to some terrific moments – and some absolute stinkers.

Moon Knight cast: Who will star in Moon Knight?

Because the character is a relative unknown, it always seemed likely that Marvel would cast a big name in the title role, especially as the Disney+ shows have been confirmed to tie in closely with the main MCU. Originally, we figured Keanu Reeves had a fighting chance to become Moon Knight. After all, it’s not as if Marvel aren’t interested in working with him.

"We talk to him for almost every film we make," Feige has said. "We talk to Keanu Reeves [often]. I don't know when, if, or ever he'll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it."

Moon Knight plot: What will Moon Knight season one be about?

Well, this is where things get really interesting. Season one of Moon Knight will introduce the character to the majority of its audience, so it will have to go into Knight’s origin story. But, as the character has one of the most bizarre beginnings in comics, it’ll be fascinating to see how faithful Marvel stays to the comics.

Oscar Isaac reportedly in talks to star as Marvel superhero Moon Knight

Oscar Isaac reportedly in talks to star as Marvel superhero Moon Knight Marvel is reportedly recruiting one hell of a pilot to join Earth's mightiest heroes. Oscar Isaac is in talks to star as Moon Knight in a new show about the Marvel character for Disney+, numerous outlets including Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Monday. This would be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe role for Isaac, who starred as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. The actor did, however, play the villainous Apocalypse in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, which took place in a separate Marvel universe under 20th Century Fox.

Basically, Marc Spector is the son of a rabbi who escaped the Nazis. As a child, he discovered that a family friend – another rabbi – was a secret Nazi / Jewish serial killer. This discovery was so traumatic he developed a dissociative personality disorder in the form of Steven Grant (a millionaire playboy) and Jake Lockley (a taxi driver). These personalities are key to Moon Knight’s success, one funds his adventures, the other provides on-the-street intel.

But, and we can’t stress this enough, all three are the same person.

Add in a spell in the marines, a job with the CIA, and an encounter with Egyptian deity Khonshu (who claims to be Spector’s dad, but may or may not be in Marc’s imagination), and Moon Knight’s path to being a costumed vigilante is one of the strangest in Marvel’s long history. We can’t wait to see how Disney delivers it.

Moon Knight trailer: When will we get our first look at Moon Knight?

We’re a long way off from seeing the first footage, but we’re prepared to sell our souls to an Egyptian god if it doesn’t show up at Disney’s D23 event in August 2022, ahead of an October debut (Moon Knight’s kinda spooky, so a Halloween season debut makes sense to us).

But keep coming back to this feature for all the latest Moon Knight season 1 news, scoops and exclusives – we’ll be following this one with great interest.

Freaky review: "Vince Vaughn’s body-swap horror is an unexpected delight" .
Vince Vaughn’s body-swap horror Freaky is an unexpected delight thanks to its two leads and expertly executed actionFreaky’s supporting cast excels, but it’s the two leads who cut the deepest. Post-swap, Newton revels in the role of remorseless, single-minded serial killer, finding the link between horror and humour necessary for the film to work as well as it does. The Blissfield Butcher’s struggle to adapt his brute-force style to his newfound petite body provides genuine laughs. Newton’s unflinching, menacing glare also spawns surprising moments of empathy when it comes to certain characters’ (near-)deserved comeuppances.
