"We were shocked when it happened, because I was like, 'What a weird show to cancel,'" Entwistle has now admitted.
In a move away from the comic book, the Netflix series ended with Syd Novak (Sophia Lillis) being approached by a shadowy figure who had been following her throughout the first season.
"Who are you? Should I be afraid," she asks the figure, who replies: "They should be afraid. Let's begin", dialogue that Entwistle toldwas a deliberate "hook...into season two".
"That was something that had been, you know, not forced upon us in the writing, but definitely something we were made very acutely aware of," he explained. "Me and Christy [Hall] wrote that scene pretty much on location in Pittsburgh."

"In fact, when the show was cancelled, I went back to Netflix and said, 'Hey, can you let me recut the last two shots so that there's no dialogue and it just looks like a man appears to her?" he said. "But they wouldn't let me."
Digital Spy has reached out to Netflix seeking comment.
Netflix's announcement that it would be axing I Am Not Okay With This felt particularly unfortunate, as the streaming service had previously renewed it for a second season.
