The joint Waitrose and John Lewis Christmas advert has arrived, encouraging viewers to give a little love to others.

The two-minute ad called Give A Little Love, illustrates how acts of kindness, large and small, can multiply and positively impact the world.
Directed by acclaimed British director Oscar Hudson, the visual captures different 'moments' of kindness, designed to appeal to different audiences, from children upwards. And each scene is connected to create a long chain of giving, passing the campaign’s heart emblem on to the next part of the film.
Local claims to have seen John Lewis filming their Christmas advert on her street
After discovering fake snow and a camera crewPosting on TikTok, one user uploaded a short video revealing a grassy roundabout drizzled in fake snow, surrounded by professional filming equipment.
It's also a celebration of different forms of moving art – from animation and claymation to CGI and cinematography.
This particular approach was chosen in a spirit of kindness towards the creative industry, which has been hard hit by the pandemic – multiple artists were selected, giving employment to many people across the creative industry.
There is also an additional 30 second ad which carries a direct call to support the two charities. It's created by four post-graduate students from Kingston University, chosen for their distinctive styles, which are joyful, yet humble.
As previously revealed, John Lewis and Waitrose are aiming to raise a total of £5 million for two charities: FareShare helps those facing food poverty and Home-Start works with parents who need support.

The department store’s campaign and accompanying soundtrack is an eagerly anticipated highlight for many in the build-up to the festive season.Here is a rundown of the ads and their soundtracks since the first one screened in 2007.
The charities will use these donations to provide food, comfort, emotional support and advice to at least 100,000 families in need.
For the first time, a new song was commissioned for the Christmas campaign. 'A Little Love' is written and recorded by British soul singer, Celeste. For every download, a 10p donation will be made to the campaign.

2019 Christmas advert recap
The John Lewis Christmas advert, Excitable Edgar, tells the funny, heartwarming story of a little girl and her friendship with an excitable young dragon – and this year it's the retailer's first joint advert with its sister company Waitrose.
Set to the iconic song, 'Can’t fight this feeling' by REO Speedwagon, which has been re-recorded by Dan Smith from the band Bastille, the story follows a little girl called Ava, who is eagerly preparing for Christmas along with her family and friends. Joining her is best friend Edgar, an enthusiastic dragon, who's unable to contain his excitement for the festivities ahead and finds it increasingly difficult to control his instinct to breathe fire.
Celeste becomes first musician to pen original track for John Lewis ad
Despite not yet having released an album, Celeste, from Saltdean near Brighton, has already scooped a Brit Award and BBC Music's Sound of 2020.In a step away from tradition, the retail giant commissioned the British soul singer, 26, to produce a new track, titled A Little Love, to provide a soundtrack to its annual festive commercial.
The pair attempt to join in with seasonal activities in the village, but it doesn't go to plan. Edgar accidentally melts the ice rink when they go ice skating, then a snowman is reduced to a puddle, and the annual dressing of the village Christmas tree ends in disaster once Edgar is involved.
Worried that he will ruin Christmas, Edgar shuts himself away. But best friend Ava comes up with the perfect idea to show Edgar how much she cares about him, and presents him with a delicious Christmas pudding, ensuring he plays a unique role in the spectacular village feast, lighting up Christmas in his own special way.

The soundtrack was produced and arranged by Mara Carlyle and Hugh Brunt, and performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra.
Dan Smith, lead singer of alt-pop band Bastille, comments: 'It’s so great to be asked to be part of this year’s John Lewis Christmas ad. This isn’t the first time John Lewis & Waitrose have teamed up for a Christmas advert. Last year, Waitrose collaborated with John Lewis for a tongue-in-cheek festive ad, which viewers called a 'genius' joint campaign.
Waitrose actually unveiled a series of six adverts last year, but the third instalment was titled 'Fast Forward’ and saw a young girl encouraging her family to gather round to watch one of the biggest Christmas TV moments, which was of course the John Lewis Christmas advert, 'The Boy & The Piano', starring Elton John.
Hearing the start of Elton's 'Your Song', the advert begins to appear on the TV. The camera pans to the parents who share a knowing look, and they then take charge of the remote and begin to fast forward the ad, leaving their daughter perplexed.
As the advert comes to a close, the reason for the rushed viewing becomes apparent; the parents just couldn't wait to tuck into the Waitrose Dark Chocolate and Orange Stollen Wreath.

The rendition of 'Round Are Way' delights locals.It starts off with a boy watching the news in the living room, where the newsreader says, 'ministers have just announced Christmas will be different for thousands of us,' in reference to the coronavirus pandemic.
And taking a cheeky swipe, the father comments: 'I prefer the one with the penguin', in relation to John Lewis' much-loved Monty the Penguin advert in 2014.
And in September last year, the John Lewis Partnership relaunched its two brands as John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners with an advert featuring school children staging an out-of-this-world theatrical reimagining of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, to celebrate both brands' new visual identity.
