I ' m A Celebrity 's stars were seen filming the opening scenes of the 2020 series, and took part in their first terrifying trial on Friday. The group were tasked with abseiling down a cliff in Anglesey, Wales, ahead of arriving at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, where they will be staying for the duration of the show.

The stars of I ’ m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 have been seen arriving on set at Gwrych Castle in Wales in a parade of black cars. The celebrities are also going to have to use a shower room that looks more like a torture chamber than a bathroom, a far cry from the waterfall contestants

As long-serving fans will know, the opening episode of every I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is all about spectacle, and 2020's series is no exception.

Straight out of the traps, the ITV reality show will pit the likes of Coronation Street's Beverley Callard, Olympic champion gold medalist Sir Mo Farah and former Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer AJ Pritchard against a cliff they must abseil down in order to retrieve rucksacks, thus earning their kit for their first night at the show's new location, Gwrych Castle.

But this is I'm a Celebrity after all, so said rucksacks are padlocked to the cliff and the only way the contestants can unlock them is by correctly answering questions about their co-stars.

Beverley, AJ Pritchard, and Sir Mo will get dropped off by helicopter at the bottom of the cliff along with Shane Richie and Hollie Arnold, while Vernon Kay, Jessica Plummer, Jordan North, Giovanna Fletcher and Victoria Derbyshire will take a jeep ride to the top.

The two teams have to work together, and we'll have to wait until tomorrow's show to see exactly how many rucksacks they manage to unlock.

Further along in tomorrow's (November 15) premiere, we'll see the celebs getting into the castle for the first time, trying out a range of sleeping quarters from hammocks to damp, rusty beds.

AJ is starring in the latest series of I ' m A Celebrity alongside other famous faces including Jessica Plummer, Giovanna Fletcher, Vernon Kay and Mo Farah. And some of the stars were spotted filming the opening scenes of the 2020 series and taking part in their first terrifying trial on Friday.

Jordan's review of the bathroom is that it's "horrific", while Beverley proclaims that it "needs a really good clean".

But Victoria is optimistic about things on the first night, saying: "The vibe from the group at this stage is a very warm one. I think we're going to have a lot of laughs, there's some funny people out there."

But it won't be long before there's another trial, as the 10 contestants are confronted with a "huge gatehouse-like structure" positioned in front of the castle – known as the Gates to Hell trial.

As the cast are locked into individual cages, hosts Ant & Dec explain that they must work as a team again to pass 10 stars from one side to the other, using their hands or the magnet provided.

Each star is worth one meal for camp – oh, and they have 12 minutes to complete the challenge.

The stars are split into two groups as they are introduced to each other – with TV presenter Vernon Kay, EastEnders star Jessica Plummer, Radio 1 DJ Jordan North, podcaster Giovanna Fletcher and journalist Victoria Derbyshire being taken to the top of a rockface.

And that's not all – it sounds like the celebs will be covered in cockroaches and crickets during the trial in the traditional I'm a Celeb style (prompting Vernon to shout "pack it in, will you" at one point).

Again, we'll have to wait until tomorrow night to find out how well the celebs do in the Gates to Hell trial.

Meanwhile, former campmate and runner-up Joel Dommett previously teased how this year's series will "throw everything" at the celebrities.

I'm a Celebrity returns tomorrow (Sunday, November 15) at 9pm on ITV.

Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 got off to a dramatic start when half of the stars taking part had to abseil down a cliff before even making it to Gwrych Castle, causing a terrified Jordan North to throw up on the top of the cliff before being sent down to the ground on a wire.
