Reese Witherspoon sent “beautiful clothes and toys” to Mindy Kaling following the arrival of her second child, Spencer.

The two actresses starred together in ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ in 2018 and have remained close friends ever since, and Mindy has now revealed Reese gifted her son Spencer a “gorgeous” present consisting of toys and clothes when he was born in September.

Mindy said: “I felt like the minute I got back from the hospital, there was a gorgeous gift for Spencer, with beautiful clothes and toys. And this is why you know a gift is from Reese Witherspoon - she also got my older kid something.”

In an interview with Pop Sugar, she added: “My daughter, who didn’t do anything, got all these beautiful clothes and toys, too. And she sent us food, so we didn’t have to cook for four days. Mindy, 41, is used to receiving impressive gifts from her co-stars after the arrival of her children, as fellow ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ star Oprah Winfrey sent Katherine an ornate wooden bookcase in the shape of a castle when she was born in 2018.

The bookcase was packed with children’s literature, and each book was inscribed with ‘Katherine’s Book Club’.

Speaking to Stephen Colbert about the gift at the time, she said: “[Your gift] straight-up sucks compared to what Oprah gave me and I mean that with love. The bookcase was carved in the shape of an old-timey castle. It’s such a nice present! And yours was such a nice present.”
