Entertainment Marvel's Jeremy Renner hints at start of Hawkeye series filming

Disney+'s first Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series is just around the corner, with WandaVision hitting our screens very soon, and it looks like production on another is getting under way.

Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner has teased the start of filming on his character's own series, uploading an Instagram Stories photo of himself looking all roughed up, with a made-up cut on his bloodied nose and bruises.

Filming was meant to begin on the series earlier this year, but we all know what got in the way. Over the last few months, productions have started to get the cameras rolling again with social distancing protocols in place. A few have had to temporarily shut down, but they have all managed to get back on track within a handful of days.

And, fittingly, they did it in time for Halloween.Avengers: Endgame might have done a great job in wrapping up over a decade's worth of storylines, but even the three-hour epic couldn't answer every mystery left lingering in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We don't know too much about what the Hawkeye series will entail, but we do know that it will introduce Kate Bishop, who took on the Hawkeye name in the Young Avengers comic series, and possibly focus on the time gap that saw him become the samurai-killing vigilante Ronin in Avengers: Endgame.

It doesn't look like it will all be dark and gritty, however, as Saturday Night Live's Rhys Thomas has signed up to direct some episodes, as have Troop Zero filmmakers Bert & Bertie.

Hawkeye will originally planned for autumn 2021, but that may no longer be the case.
