The Masked Singer US has unveiled another celebrity, with Broccoli the latest contestant to get the chop (sorry).

On last night's (November 26) episode, it came down to a battle between the cabbage plant and Mushroom, and after a number of guesses by the judges the now-eliminated Broccoli was revealed to be… Paul Anka.

Speaking after his elimination, the legendary crooner said: "I'm very humbled, because we have gone through something in our country, and to have this kind of fun and to enjoy [something] like this, we should all be very, very proud."

The US version of The Masked Singer has got a reputation for featuring an array of top notch names, and things were no different after the latest unmasking. Elaborating on why he decided to take part in the hit show, Anka revealed that he was "very familiar" with the series beforehand.

"I was a big fan of the show, as is my family – my son and the kids he hangs out with," he told Entertainment Weekly. "And when I got the call, I was very interested, keeping in mind that I've been confined here in my house in my studio.

"I'm working on a new album, and was confined for some time. So I accepted, and wanted to kind of get out of the house. I was in, I was down for it, and I had a lot of fun, frankly."

The star went on to touch upon Mickey Rourke's infamous exit earlier in the series, where the actor decided to take off his own mask.

"I think some of them want out of there after the first time," he continued. "I think Mickey Rourke wanted out. [Laughs.] You know, that wasn't my take. I mean, I was going to have fun, and being a fan of the show, I went with it.

"Did I want to last three weeks? No, I wanted to get back to my album, but I think the ride that I had was great. You know, I had the experience. But other than that, I didn't have any expectations. I did the best I could working hard at it, and that was it. It was pretty cool."

The Masked Singer US continues next Wednesday (December 2) at 8pm on Fox. The show's UK equivalent airs on ITV.
