Viewers tuning into Good Morning Britain were left heartbroken as one of Britain's oldest identical twins paid tribute to her twin sister who died from coronavirus.

During today's episode of the ITV show, fans quickly took to social media to share their devastation as 96-year-old Lils Hobday was interviewed alone following the death of her sister Doris.

Lils and Doris, also known as the Tipton Twins, stole the hearts of many with their hilarious remarks when they appeared on Good Morning Britain last year.

But Lils appearance on the show this morning took a much more sombre mood as she spoke about the loss of her sister.

"I was so distraught to hear that Doris had lost her life." Piers told Lils.

"You've got to make the best of it, there's no bringing her back." Lils replied.

Lils, who was joined by her grandson Brayden, added: "It's only me now for how many years."

"It's been very hard for us as a family, very emotional," Brayden said.

Lils continued: "She was the only one I ever had."

"Everyone at Good Morning Britain is so sorry about Doris," Piers told her. "She's in our hearts, you're in our hearts."

Many fans were left in tears and flocked to Twitter to comment.

One viewer said: "In tears watching #GMB, poor Lil looks so lost my heart goes out to her and all the families who have lost a loved one."

A second put: "Doris & Lil brought me & so many viewers such joy when they were on #GMB last year. Absolutely heartbreaking watching Lil's interview just now-she was just devastated."

Another tweeted: "Aww poor Doris very hard to watch she still mourning."
