BRIDGERTON HUNK Regé-Jean Page is the hottest star in Hollywood with two major movies announced in the past week, giving a major boost to his hope to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond after No Time To Die.Page's Hollywood profile continues to rise as he joins an A-list cast that includes Ryan Reynolds and Captain America star Chris Evans.
Rege-Jean Page portrayed the dashing Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings in the first series of Bridgerton. The Netflix drama came out on Christmas Day 2020 and proved to be an instant hit, thanks to actor Page and actress Phoebe Dynevor who led the cast as Daphne Bridgerton. However, Page announced today, Friday, April 2, that he would not be returning for the second season.
Bridgerton is based on the best-selling books written by Julia Quinn.
The drama revolves around the Bridgerton family and the siblings' individual stories in love, their search for it and in the case of Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), how to avoid it.

Daphne was ready to get married and despite their initial relationship not getting off to the best start, she fell head over heels for Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings.
He was the show's main heartthrob in season one but unfortunately, Simon won't be back for the second season.
Why has Rege Jean Page quit Bridgerton?
Taking to the official Bridgerton Twitter account, Lady Whistledown reported: "While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton's quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings.
"We'll miss Simon's presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.
"Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer - more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear."

BRIDGERTON season 2 will not welcome back Rege-Jean Page in the role of the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset, when the Netflix series returns as the star has today announced his exit from the show.Bridgerton's official Twitter account broke the news on April 2, in a lengthy statement penned by the show's mysterious character, Lady Whistledown.
According to Deadline actor Page had only signed up for one season of Bridgerton.
The plan had always reportedly been that he would be the Duke of Hastings in the first series which is based on the Bridgerton book The Duke and I.
He will continue to be referenced in the second series as actress Dynevor will remain in the show.
As Lady Whistledown says, she is still going to be a "devoted wife", married to Simon but he won't be making an appearance himself.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Bridgerton would be back for a second season on Netflix.
This time around, the story will follow the love life of the eldest Bridgerton sibling Anthony (Jonathan Bailey).
The series will be focusing on the plot of Quinn's book THe Viscount Who Loved Me which sees Anthony fall in love with a woman called Kate.
Netflix has already cast their leading lady who will be following in the footsteps of actress Dynevor.
In the books, Anthony's love interest in Bridgerton is Kate Sheffield but this has been changed for the TV drama.
Instead, it will be Kate Sharma who is going to be portrayed by actress Simone Ashley.
She is probably best known for playing Olivia in Sex Education, as well as Elise Fox in The Sister and Dana in Broadchurch.
Bridgerton is available to watch on Netflix.
