However, while Owain has a loyal following behind him, he admitted he was "clueless" ahead of his first TV audition.
He applied to be a presenter on Ffeil, a Welsh children's news programme, when he was 18 years old.
Despite working in television being the dream of many youngsters, Owain saw the job as a way to make money.
At the time, he had taken a year out after college to hone his skills as a drummer.
Earlier this year, Owain told the Manchester Evening News that he didn't understand what was required of him during his first audition.
He said: "I was invited to do a screen test and I honestly had no clue what a screen test was."
"I had to read links from an autocue and I really didn't think the audition went well at all."
Owain feared he had blown any chance of becoming a TV presenter after an unfortunate blunder during the audition.

CAROL KIRKWOOD has suffered a home dilemma as the BBC Breakfast forecaster revealed there would be hardly any rain this week.Taking to the micro-blogging site, the 58-year-old admitted her plants were growing like "triffids" - a highly venomous carnivorous plant often found in fictional books and films.
He recalled: "I knocked a bottle of water over by accident and swore in response... I left it feeling deflated."
But "half-an-hour later", Owain received a call to inform him that he had got the job.
He still believes "tipping the water over and swearing" helped him to "relax" because he felt "there was no way I was going to end up getting the job".
Since then, Owain admitted he "worked bloody hard" to get where he is today after studying meteorology with the Open University.
The star continues to impress viewers on North West Tonight, where he is a full-time weather reporter, and BBC Breakfast.
Earlier this month, he participated in the #IceFoot92 challenge, which aimed to raise funds and awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
As part of Owain's efforts, he plunged his feet in a bucket of ice water and delivered a weather forecast.
During the challenge, Owain yelled: "There are not many things that have rendered me speechless but this is one of those things! Gosh, it's very uncomfortable!"
After completing it, he described the feeling as "awful" but was glad to have helped out such a worthwhile cause.
