Lorraine Kelly admits she 'could have cried' after seeing gatherings
Talking on her ITV chatshow on Thursday, the Scottish presenter, 61, encouraged viewers to 'be sensible' as she lamented people meeting in large crowds. Revellers have been making the most of their newfound freedom this week after coronavirus restrictions were partially lifted on Monday, allowing up to six people or two households of any size to meet outdoors.
Sir Tom Jones, 80, spoke to presenter Lorraine Kelly about his inspirations and motivations for the songs he had chosen for his 40th album and how the process was different this time around following the passing of his wife Linda, five years ago. But those watching at home were in awe of how youthful Tom looked.
Lorraine asked: "I think your Linda would've approved, did you feel she was there - in a way?"
Tom replied: "Yes, well the thing is, anytime I would record an album I would play it to Linda to see what she thought of it and she was always right.
"If I said 'I don't know about this one' she would say 'Let me have a listen... now wait a minute, who you aiming this at? What audience?' [And Tom would reply] 'I'm not aiming at anything!'

TV host Cat, 43, was a mainstay on the classic ITV children's show, which debuted in 1998, with Louise, 46, making appearances as her sidekick in the sketch. And in the sketch in question, Cat was regularly seen sporting a frizzy black wig and spectacles with her character's signature mangled teeth as she recounted her clumsy adventures alongside her more glamorous co-star.
"She used to keep my feet on the ground and she would tell me exactly how she felt what I was recording," he continued.
"This album is the first one which I haven't had her approval on - I couldn't play it to her."
Tom also spoke about returning to live performances and how relieved he was when he heard a vaccine had been approved.
"Thank God for that!" He exclaimed. "I was first in line. That's the good thing about being 80 - you're at the front of the queue.
"I was so thrilled, a light at the end of the tunnel, hopefully, if everything goes to plan, we'll be able to out out there.
"That's the thing I have missed more than anything else - because people want to be entertained and I want to entertain them," he told the presenter.

Taking to Twitter to comment on Sir Tom's appearance, one viewer said: "#lorraine Tom Jones at 80 is just wow."

One fan added: "They don't make em like Tom Jones anymore #lorraine."
In a recent interview, Tom was asked how he keeps his vocals in good shape.
"It's luck. It's a God-given gift," he said before adding that cutting back on alcohol might've helped and working out everyday.
"I've got an exercise bike in my bedroom. And I've got this inversion table, where I hang upside down for about five minutes every day.
"It gets the blood rushing to your head, which is great, and it elongates your spine as well - so if you've got any problems with your back, I highly recommend it.
"So I might be old myself but my voice is still young," he told the BBC.
As for his album, Surrounded By Time, Tom is on course for his first UK Number 1 album in two decades.
The Welsh icon's led the Official Chart Update yesterday, racking up the most CD and download sales overate weekend.
Surrounded By Time could before Tom's fourth UK Number 1 album since Reload hit the top back in October 1999.
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
