Many cruise lines are set to welcome passengers aboard in the coming weeks with sailings around UK waters set to kickstart voyages.
Cruise holidays have mostly been suspended for more than a year, but it's full steam ahead for many lines planning to resume.
Adult travel specialist Saga has hailed “significant pent-up demand” from vaccinated customers to travel again and said it is ready to restart its international tour operations and cruise business later this year when it is given the green light by Government.

A number of other cruise lines are offering summer staycation sailings for UK residents, including P&O Cruises, Cunard, MSC Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Saga Cruises.

Celebrity will be operating its just-renovated Silhouette on a series of six to eight-night itineraries. Ports of call include Liverpool, Portland in Dorset, Belfast, Inverness, Greenock (Glasgow) and Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands.

The famous operator is running a series of three to 12-night scenic coastal voyages from Southampton between July and October, taking in the Jurassic Coast, Land’s End, the Isle of Arran, Mull of Kintyre and Sound of Mull. Four will also be stopping at ports – including Liverpool, Greenock, Invergordon, Belfast, Newcastle and Holyhead. – and there will be three ‘unscripted’ Sun Voyages, which won’t call at any ports but will instead sail to wherever is sunniest at the time.

Take one of these new cruises around the UK coast
Whether you're tempted by a UK seacation on a floating resort, wildlife-watching, a family-friendly or adults-only cruise, non-stop or excursions ashore, there are plenty to choose from. Luxury cruise agent Stefan Shillito, of The Sovereign Cruise Club, adds: 'I have people who never dreamed of doing a short voyage, who have sailed everywhere from the Amazon to Antarctica, who are really keen to be on these UK voyages.'MSC (msccruises.co.uk) welcomes children as no vaccinations will be required (although non-vaccinated passengers will need a negative Covid test result within 72 hours before boarding).
Disney Cruise Line
Departing from: Liverpool (July), Southampton (August), Newcastle and Tilbury (September).
Two, three and four-night scenic staycation voyages between July and October, giving guests a chance to experience legendary shows, dining and activities. Trips will be onboard Disney Magic, and passengers will remain on the ship throughout the cruise.

Tui Marella Cruises
Departing from: Southampton and Newcastle.
When: From June 25.
Marella Explorer will sail from Southampton covering Scotland, the Irish Sea and the south and west coasts. They’ll take in Belfast, Dover, Portland, Dublin, Invergordon, Lerwick, Leith, Liverpool and beyond, with optional excursions at each. The adult-only Marella Explorer 2 will sail from Newcastle.
Vaccination: Yes, for adults. Marella Cruises is a family friendly all-inclusive cruise line and to ensure the safety of both customers and crew will have in place vaccination and testing requirements to sail from the UK this summer. Anyone aged 18-years and older will be required to have had both Covid-19 jabs at least seven days before travelling. All guests must also provide proof of a negative lateral flow test before boarding the ships at the start of the cruise.

Offering 11 domestic cruises in July and August, on new ships Borealis and Bolette as well as Balmoral. Trips range from a four-night no-port cruise around Scotland, passing the Isle of Skye, the Inner Hebrides and the Sound of Mull, to a five-night Touring Scenic British Isles trip docking in Belfast and Falmouth. Other itineraries include the Shetlands, Channel Islands and Isles of Scilly.

New vessel MSC Virtuosa will make its maiden voyage around the British Isles with features including a robotic bartender and reportedly the biggest shopping area at sea. Three and four-night mini-cruises from Southampton will call at Portland, while five, seven and nine-night sailings will visit Belfast, Liverpool and Greenock.

Cruises on Arcadia, Aurora, Azura and Ventura have all been cancelled until the end of August 2021 and on Britannia and Iona until late September 2021.
The line will be running domestic coastal cruises from June to September, with new ship Iona on a maiden voyage around the Scottish islands. Britannia will operate three and four-night breaks exploring the south coast, with a six-night trip including a stop in Liverpool.

Domestic sailings will be on the line’s Medallion Class ships, Regal Princess and the newer Sky Princess. There’ll be 24 voyages in total, ranging from three to seven nights, calling at Portland, Liverpool, Belfast and Greenock. Planned shore excursions include a visit to Titanic Belfast, a Beatles-themed excursion around Liverpool and a boat cruise and vintage train ride in the Lake District.

Royal Caribbean Group

Anthem of the Seas complete with four pools, a skydiving simulator and climbing wall, will operate on a UK season of five to eight-night domestic cruises. Ports of call will include Liverpool, Belfast, Kirkwall, Greenock and Inverness, with shore excursions available at extra cost.

The new Spirit of Adventure will make its first sailing on July 26, calling at Newcastle, the Isle of Man, Edinburgh, Kirkwall, Belfast and Bristol. Spirit of Discovery will also sail domestic itineraries in July and August, including a 14-night Great British Isles Adventure taking in Falmouth, Holyhead, Greenock, Ullapool and beyond, alongside three other sold-out itineraries.

New cruise line will begin on the 272-guest Golden Horizon – a five-mast sailing vessel with three pools, two restaurants and a spa. Voyages will run from June to September, with itineraries ranging from the southwest of England to the west coast of Scotland. Ports of call include Falmouth, Dartmouth, Cowes, Poole, Fowey, Aberdeen, Ullapool, the Isle of Skye and Kirkwall.

Six domestic Summer Soirée sailings in August, giving guests a chance to sample Scarlet Lady’s long-awaited restaurants, bars and shows. The two, three and four-night itineraries will sail along the southern coast from Portsmouth without docking, with exact routes yet to be confirmed.

Hurtigruten Ocean Cruises
Departing from: Dover
When: from August 15
Norwegian operator Hurtigruten is running two British Isles cruises, using its small expedition ships to dock at destinations bigger vessels are unable to access. Either 13 and 15-day itineraries, visiting Fowey, the Isles of Scilly, Fishguard, Waterford, the Isle of Man, Rathlin Island and St Kilda.
Information on booing: A 13-day cruise costs from £3,315, in August 15 and September.
Departing from: Leith (Edinburgh) or Greenock.
When: From July 5.
New expedition ship Seaventure will debut on an eight-day Highlands & Islands itinerary. Four voyages on the 158-passenger vessel will take in Aberdeen, Inverness, Orkney, Oban, the Outer Hebrides and Belfast, with excursions to Loch Ness, Balmoral Castle, Titanic Belfast and the Unesco-listed Ring of Brodgar in the Orkneys.
Vaccination: No, but guests who have not received both doses must present a negative test, which the company is offering for free.
Children: Aged 12 and above.
