Freddie Highmore's medical drama – which is network ABC's third most popular title in terms of viewing figures, behind only Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 – was confirmed to be returning in a post on social media.
The show's official account wrote: "We can't wait for what's to come when #TheGoodDoctor returns for another season!"

She plays the real-life inspiration for James Bond's Miss Moneypenny.The actress, who is also known for Doctor Who and most recently appeared in BBC One's The Serpent, is on board as Joan Bright.
Its fourth season is still currently airing, and the next episode 'Dr Ted' sees Shaun Murphy struggling with his role as Lea Dilallo's partner when complications surface with her pregnancy and his medical instincts kick in.
Meanwhile, The Good Doctor producer Daniel Dae Kim revealed last month that the initial plan was for, but it went in a different direction when a showrunner was brought onboard.
"I wanted an Asian lead," he explained. "The first time we developed it, it was with an Asian lead. And the second time, when [David] Shore came aboard, we had a conversation about it.

"This is where I felt you can completely lose your confidence as an actor."The actor has opened up about the audition before, previously describing walking out of the room and telling the filmmakers: "I can't do it. It's not about you. I'm sorry, this is wrong.
"When you start working with a showrunner, it has to be a proper meeting of the minds because he's the one that'll be running the show every day. And so he had to have a level of comfort with it.
"I'm not going to say he was the one that wanted a white lead, but I will say that it became less clear to him how an Asian lead would work. And then the studio came in with Freddie Highmore, whom we both absolutely loved. And so it shifted the focus to creating a diverse ensemble."
The Good Doctor season 4 airs on ABC in the US. The show airs onand in the UK.
