He faced criticism from Friends fans on Thursday as they questioned why he was appointed as host of the special reunion show.
Andwas seen for the first time since the backlash, as he stocked up on treats at gourmet food store Wally's in Beverly Hills on Friday.
The TV presenter, 42, kept his look casual in a navy jumper and blue jeans as he left the store laden with green shopping bags.
James paired his dressed down look with white trainers, while much of his face was concealed by a black mask.
The Gavin and Stacey star furrowed his brow as he made his way down the street following his visit to the store.
Friends: The Reunion – how to watch it in the UK
Could we BE any more excited?
James' outing comes after Friends fans took to social media to question why the British presenter was picked for the coveted role, with some suggested that an American star should have landed the gig.
Memories: The opening scene of the trailer was certainly familiar as Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green, joined Courteney Cox and Matt LeBlanc on their old couch for an updated trivia game with David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry.
Recreating a memorable moment from the iconic show, David's character, Ross Geller, stood at the trivia board. 'Rachel wrote Ross a letter and demanded he read it before they got back together. How many pages was that letter?' he asked the group.
Matt, who played Joey Tribbiani, screamed '18 pages' only for Aniston to correct him: 'front and back!' Courteney, who played Monica Geller, screamed back, 'Wait, wait do it one more time!'
Together again: Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, was overwhelmed upon walking onto set at the Warner Bros lot as Matt enthusiastically said: 'Here we go!' Jennifer proved to be already emotional as she asked: 'Where's the tissue box?'
So many memories: Courteney wiped away tears while chatting with her co-stars during the reunion. 'We have such a bond from this show,' Lisa explained while sitting on the iconic orange couch from the show's intro. 'Friends' was viewed by an average of 23 million viewers throughout its 10-year run, and continues to be one of the most-watched shows on streaming sites. Viewers around the world spent 54.3 million hours watching the show in 2018.
Tough: In one of many touching moments, Jennifer leaned down to comfort Perry as he stuttered through his words and said: 'I'm going to cry now.' Perry struggled with addiction while filming the shows and beyond. He even admitted to not remembering filming three of the show's 10 seasons.
'I remember I went to the producer of the show that I was on and he said, "That show's not going to make you a star,"' Jennifer recalled. Jennifer went on to have one of the most lucrative careers of any of the cast members, appearing in box office successes like 'Bruce Almighty,' 'Marley & Me,' and 'Along Came Polly.' Aniston is one of the highest-paid actresses today, boasting a net worth of $300 million.
Chatty: Lisa admitted the first table read was the 'first time I laid eyes on any of you' while Schwimmer noted everyone was 'so perfectly cast.' Warner Bros reportedly earns $1 billion each year from syndication revenue and each star earns two percent of that revenue, raking in $20 million for each of the cast members annually.
Classic: Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing were roommates for years before he moved out to pursue a relationship with Monica. Their apartment was located across the hall from Monica's leading to tomfoolery throughout much of the show.
Back in action: Phoebe Buffay, played by Lisa Kudrow, was back at her old stomping grounds as she strummed a guitar while sitting on the couch at the group's favorite coffee house, Central Perk. During the last two seasons of the show, Kudrow, along with the rest of the cast, was receiving $1 million per episode of 'Friends,' making them some of the highest-paid actors in television history.
I'll be there for you: A host of celebrities, including Tom Selleck, are set to join the cast in some capacity. Other guest stars include: Justin Bieber, Cindy Crawford, Lady Gaga and David Beckham. Pictured: Selleck in the reunion episode. Selleck portrayed Dr. Richard Burke, Monica's older love interest from 1996 - 2000.
Comedian: Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice Litman-Goralnik, Chandler's on-and-off longtime girlfriend laughed while on set. Wheeler's character was known for her obnoxiously nasally voice and trademark saying, 'Oh my god!'
Smile! It was reported in April that the hour-long, unscripted reunion special was filmed over three days, with a live audience participating in the show. Supermodel Cara Delevingne, K-pop supergroup BTS, 'Game of Thrones' actor Kit Harington, comedian and actress Mindy Kaling, and Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai are also slated to appear on the reunion.
This comes as MailOnline also reports that James was the number-one choice by all six of the show's cast members to host the reunion, which saw the stars look back at some of the sitcom's most iconic moments.
James Corden gives strongest hint yet that Gavin and Stacey will return
Gavin and Stacey creator and star James Corden has given fans of the show hope that it could be about to make another returnGavin and Stacey last aired a new episode for the Christmas special in 2019, 10 years on from its last full series, and fans of the sitcom have been clamouring for another instalment ever since.
James appeared as host when the cast made their way to the show's iconic brown sofa, placed in front of a replica of the famous fountain that appeared in the opening credits.
Courteney Cox (Monica Gellar),(Rachel Green), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) and David Schwimmer (Ross Gellar) all returned to the sitcom's original set for the show.
Admitting it would hard to hear the stars during the interview, James proceeded to stand up and turn off the fountain, before chatting to the cast about some of Friends' most iconic moments.
However James' appointment as host puzzled some viewers, who flooded social media with questions including why the special even needed a host, and why they didn't choose an American presenter.

Others were quick to suggest that an American star should have hosted the special, given it was about a US sitcom set in New York with a wholly Stateside cast.
One said: 'James Corden British accent sooo,' while another added: 'James Corden is British. He shouldn't be hosting this.'
Clearly passionate about the show, one fan added: 'HELP OPENED UP THE FRIENDS REUNION AND WHEN I SAY I GOT HELLA CONFUSED HEADING THAT JAMES CORDEN ACCENT I KFKDK WHAT HE DOING YHERR.'
Some stated that the reunion wasn't wholly in need of a host, and could have sufficed with simply the Friends cast discussing the show amongst themselves.
Friends reunion host James Corden slammed as fans claim he 'ruins' the show
James Corden oversaw the most hotly-anticipated TV event of the year – but it seems viewers weren't too pleased with his presenceHowever, one aspect of the reunion that loyal viewers were less than impressed with was James Corden hosting the special.
It came after the highly-anticipated Friends reunion was branded 'bloated' and jammed with 'tiresome filler' by critics.
James was widely-panned for his interview with the show's stars, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry, with one slamming his 'banal' questions.
While the nostalgic element has been called upon and praised by experts, the lack of awareness towards the more problematic nature of the show set tongues wagging as well as James' appearance as host.
