The sight of a blonde woman in one of the show's trailers led some to hope Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) will make a cameo in a future episode . That hasn't been confirmed - and it seems more likely the woman is someone else anyway - but head writer Michael Waldron did hint fans should look out for surprise Marvel characters in Loki .

Loki has only debuted one episode so far, but fans reckon they've already spotted a potentially big cameo from the MCU.

In its premiere episode 'Glorious Purpose', we follow Loki in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, where he is caught by the Time Variance Authority (TVA).

In typical Loki style, he tries to escape his captors, at one point managing to break off on his own through the TVA headquarters.

However, in the background of one shot during this particular sequence a gate opens, with a Hunter seen bringing in a woman in rather distinctive garb and a familiar wartime-era haircut.

The first episode of Loki debuted today, and it offered up a lot for fans to take in. It was super emotional for one thing, and it also upturned our understanding of the Infinity Stones and teased multiple versions of the God of Mischief to come. It featured a bunch of familiar faces from the MCU, too, including most of the Avengers, thanks to Loki essentially watching clips from past films on the TVA’s version of Disney Plus. Despite not seeing her face, fans have already speculated that this may be none other than Peggy Carter.

While this could indicate that Peggy has been off committing crimes against the timeline, Marvel does like a good tease – and it may just be someone similar-looking.

Ahead of Loki's release, the series was rated 96% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, though critics have given the first two episodes a mixed reception.

Fans think they may have spotted fan -favorite Peggy Carter in the show's first episode . Insider has reached out to Disney to confirm whether or not it's Carter. 34 minutes into the episode , a mystery woman is briefly seen escorted by a member of the Time Variance Authority (TVA, which you can read up on here). Here's how it goes down: Do you think this is Peggy? Marvel Studios. Loki fans are going wild on social media after its opening episode appeared to feature a reference to a major Marvel villain we’ ve been expecting to show up in the MCU for the longest time. In one of the premiere’s opening scenes, Mobius investigates a time variance in medieval France. Yes, everyone immediately thought this was a nod to Mephisto, the Devil of the Marvel universe. The demon’s debut was fully expected to happen in WandaVision for a while there, so it’s become a bit of meme in the fandom to assume he’s going to pop up in every single MCU project.
