The reason for the delay for the next season of Yellowstone is in part due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, which has caused a series of delays for the majority of shows.
Any show filming throughout 2020 and 2021 has been impacted by the pandemic, causing filming schedules to shift and release dates pushed back to accommodate the backlog.
The wait for season four has been long for Yellowstone fans, with the new season announced way back in February of 2020.
This was ahead of the season three premiere, yet it also came with other news to excite fans.
The western ranching series will be getting, not one, but two spin-off series, each focusing on a different time and place in the Yellowstone-verse.

The first spin-off is Y:1883 and follow the early years of the ranch, promising to be more in line with the shows western roots.
The second spin-off will be 6666 and will follow another ranch in Texas and see a series of new characters introduced into the universe.
Details are limited on both shows, with there currently being no word on a release date for the spin-offs.
The earliest fans should expect them is 2022, however now Yellowstone is missing its traditional spot, the wait could be longer.
Season four of Yellowstone is expected to pick up exactly where season three left off with Jamie Dutton (played by Wes Bentley) still dealing with the ramifications of finding out he's adopted.
Also returning is John Dutton (Kevin Costner), Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille).
The general plot for the season remains unknown, with Paramount still not releasing a trailer for the upcoming season.
However, fans are still excited to get back on the saddle for season four, many of them are sharing their thoughts on Twitter.
