Olivia Williams: "There is an astounding amount of interesting work for women in their fifties"
The Nevers actress discusses how Hollywood has evolved since she started out in the 1990s A mainstay of the British theatre scene, Olivia Williams spent her early career turning in celebrated stage work at the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National before being snapped up by Hollywood, starring in Rushmore and The Sixth Sense, among other successful movies. Now, she features in the new sci-fi series The Nevers, a fantastical retelling of 19th-century London in which a group of women with superpowers – known as the ‘Touched’ – find themselves ostracised by society.
Jack P Shepherd has claimed he "f***** up" his chance of making it in Hollywood.
The 'Coronation Street' star - who plays David Platt on the cobbles - revealed he auditioned for the title role in 2000's 'Billy Elliot', but missed out as part went to Jamie Bell.
Speaking to castmates Colson Smith and Ben Price on his 'Sofa Cinema Club' podcast, he said: "When this film came out I was like 11 to 12-years-old and I'd obviously been for an audition.
"I was only gutted in the sense that I did not get it because of the success of the film went on to do - Academy Award nominations. And I used to watch the Academy Awards religiously.

Jack agreed, but insisted Jamie - who won a BAFTA for his performance and has since appeared in the likes of 'Rocketman' and 'King Kong' - did a fantastic job.
He added: "Yeah, I suppose, yeah. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'd have done anywhere near as good a performance as Jamie did."
However, Colson said: "But you'd have liked the chance?"
Jack responded: "Well, I did have the chance and I f***** it up!"
He joined 'Corrie' as David in 2000, and has remained on the cobbles ever since.
Before appearing on the ITV soap, he made one-off appearances in 'Where The Heart Is' and 'Clocking Off', but the show has been his sole acting role.
To date, he's won plenty of prizes for playing David, including Best Soap Actor at last year's TV Choices Awards, and the best actor trophy at the British Soap Awards in 2018.
