Marvel's Kevin Feige regrets whitewashing in Doctor Strange

Marvel's Kevin Feige regrets whitewashing in Doctor Strange "It was a wake-up call."The 2016 film received heavy backlash over the casting of The Ancient One, a Tibetan man in the comics. The source material's portrayal leaned into racist tropes, and so Marvel decided to cast Tilda Swinton, a white woman, as Stephen Strange's mentor instead – which came with its own problems.

Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter ended with Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America, and the finale was followed by reports that a fourth Cap movie is in development.

Mackie himself has played down the rumours linking him to the role in the film, telling Variety during an interview conducted in May shortly after the reports broke that "I didn't get a call or email – nothing".

The actor said that he first heard about the movie from a checkout worker while out shopping, recalling: "So I'm standing in line, and he's like, 'Yo, so is this real?'
