Fast & Furious 9 races to new record with huge opening The action sequel is off to a great start overseas.Fast & Furious 9 opened in several countries overseas this weekend, and managed to pull in the biggest opening of any Hollywood blockbuster since the start of the pandemic.

Fast & Furious 9 had already brought Han back from the dead and given us Dom's long-lost brother who he's never spoken of before – but the surprises didn't end there.

With the recent outings in the series to date, Fast & Furious has delivered credits scenes up there with the best of the MCU's efforts. Fast Five revealed that Letty wasn't actually dead and Fast & Furious 6 marked Jason Statham's debut as Deckard Shaw.

After Hobbs & Shaw delivered mostly comedic credits scenes, Fast & Furious 9 has gone back to basics with a knockout credits scene that will leave fans desperate for the next movie to be released.

Fast & Furious 9 credits scene explained

Don't say we didn't warn you...

So, even though we believed we wouldn't see Deckard Shaw again until Fast & Furious 10, Jason Statham makes his return to the main franchise in the credits scene.

Shaw is seemingly just training away on a punchbag, but there's actually some poor chap inside of it. He pleads to be let go in return for some plans on a drive, unaware that Shaw already has them and is just beating him up to stay in shape.

Fortunately for his punchbag victim, Shaw's workout is interrupted by a knock on the door and when he goes to open it, he comes face-to-face with... Han! Unsurprisingly, Shaw seems a bit shocked to see somebody he thought he'd killed, but that's as much as we get before it cuts to black.

"I think obviously it was to test the reaction, to see if this is something fans want," Sung Kang told Digital Spy of the surprise meeting.

"I think there's still some questions that are unanswered. It's a taste of where Han can go and where Deckard Shaw can go because everybody loves Jason Statham. We're honoured to have him in our universe, so why not?"

It absolutely will be something Fast & Furious fans will want to see in the next movie. They've been calling for #JusticeForHan since Shaw's heel-face turn in Fast & Furious 8 and now Han's alive again, they could have their wish.

Statham previously spoke of his desire to return to the franchise, but now we know he already had returned and is just really good at keeping a secret: "They better bring me back, because I need to put out that fire. If [Han's] got any score to settle, it's with me."

Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel discusses the reasons the series is ending

Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel discusses the reasons the series is ending Former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson shares behind-the-scenes while in a recording studio.

He continued: "I love Justin Lin, he's a great director. It's a shame because when I joined the franchise all those years back, he went on to do something else and all I did with Justin was a little tag at the end.

"I need to do a movie with him. And I'd love to see all the Fast crew, Vin [Diesel] and everybody, they're all great people. I have a lot of affection for them."

Lin will return for the epic two-movie finale to this Fast & Furious story and since he's spoken about how Shaw and Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs are "part of this family", we would expect to see them return at some point in those movies.

And after this credits scene tease, we cannot wait.
