Ex-Emmerdale star Louisa Clein has unveiled a dramatic hair transformation after a recent trip to the salon, ditching her signature look in favour of a bouncy blow dry.

The 42 year old, who played villain Maya Stepney during her time on the soap, is known for sporting a head full of bright blonde curls. But she can now be seen with a cooler, honey-toned look – so the move is quite the hair makeover.

Louisa shared her fresh colour and blow dry with fans in an Instagram post, writing: “Bit less blonde. A lot less curly. And nowhere to go tonight except home!!!”

The star also took the opportunity to thank her hairdresser and colourist “for taming the curls.... if only for a short while!”

Although Louisa left the show back in 2019 – albeit with the door left open for her to return one day – her fellow Emmerdale cast members were quick to compliment her on the fresh new look.

“Beautiful,” wrote actress Fiona Wade, who plays Priya Sharma on the show, while Ross Barton actor Mike Parr simply dropped a love heart eyes emoji in the comments section.

Of course, fans were also very excited to see Louisa’s brand new sleek blonde ‘do. "Beautiful... although I love your curls too," said one, while another follower added, "You look stunning. Hope you are well. Lots of love."

Meanwhile a third fan commented, "I almost didn’t recognise you! You look so stunning! I mean you have insanely beautiful hair naturally and now this transformation... [it] really suits you."
