The eight-part drama is based on the memoir by Stephanie Land, in which she shares her story and other real stories of workers in the US. For a period of her life, she depended on food stamps and coupons to eat, and recalls the programs from the government that provided her basic housing. Herhas been described as "an inspiring tribute to the determination, resilience, strength, and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit".
