Manchester United and West Ham face each other for the second time in a week tonight, as they go head to head at Old Trafford for a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Tonight’s hosts last won this competition back in 2017 – and will be hoping to stop noisy neighbours Manchester City winning the cup for the fifth year in a row – something they will be desperate to do despite this not being classed by many as the most prestigious trophy on offer in English football.

Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s side will already be very familiar with tonight’s opponents, having faced them on Sunday afternoon at the London Stadium. Said Benrahma opened the score for the hosts on the half-hour mark before Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the scores just a few minutes later.

Latest Covid-19 case rates for UK local authority areas

Latest Covid-19 case rates for UK local authority areas Nearly three-quarters of local areas have recorded a week-on-week rise in rates. The figures, for the seven days to September 4, are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.

However, it took until the 89th minute for the Red Devils to find a winner, with former Hammers loanee curling in a right-footed effort into the top corner and giving Lukasz Fabianski no chance.

David Moyes’ men will be hoping for revenge after making a decent start to the season themselves, although they come into the game as underdogs with both teams competing in Europe this season and both likely to make several changes to their starting lineup to freshen things up and avoid injuries to some of their key men.

But who will come out on top in this one? We haven’t got a crystal ball – but we do have team news, live stream information and the kick-off time for you in this preview.

Latest Covid-19 case rates for UK local authority areas

Latest Covid-19 case rates for UK local authority areas Four in five local areas have recorded a week-on-week rise in rates. The figures, for the seven days to September 5, are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.

Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford are both set to be missing with their respective injuries for the hosts, with Edison Cavani also a doubt with a minor injury despite closing in on a return to first-team action.

However, two players who will be included in the matchday squad are Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga, with Jesse Lingard confirmed to be starting by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after coming off the bench to net the winner at the weekend.

Scott McTominay also came off the bench on Sunday and could be given a start to get back up to match-speed, with Dean Henderson, Diogo Dalot, Jadon Sancho, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial another six players who are likely to be heavily involved.

One player who is unlikely to be involved though is Cristiano Ronaldo, who is likely to be rested ahead of Premier League games and Europa League ties.

For West Ham, Winston Reid certainly won’t be available after terminating his contract in the capital, although they will be boosted by the return of Michail Antonio who has returned from his suspension and may start in a bid to build some momentum.

Latest Covid-19 case rates for UK local authority areas Just over a third of local areas have recorded a week-on-week rise in rates. The figures, for the seven days to September 10, are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.

Going into their game away at Leeds United, having their main striker with sufficient match sharpness will be vital so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 31-year-old start at Old Trafford tonight.

Arthur Masuaku may also be involved as he closes in on a return, although David Moyes is set to ring the changes with further Premier League and Europa League games on the horizon.

Is there a live stream?

This all-Premier League clash is available on Sky Sports Football and Main Event channels for Sky customers, with the build-up to the game commencing at 7pm.

Smartphone users can also use the Sky Go app to watch all the action in a matter of clicks.

For those who don’t own a Sky subscription, you can purchase a pass to watch the game via NOW TV, where you don’t have to commit to a longer-term contract and can still view the game from the comfort of your sofa.

What time is kick-off?

Kick-off at Old Trafford tonight is at a normal time of 7:45pm despite the game being broadcast on Sky.

Although it may be less busy on the roads and trains depending on the attendance and how many West Ham fans make the long journey up to Manchester from the capital, there will inevitably be some traffic around the stadium on matchday, so getting to your seat early for this potentially enthralling clash could be recommended, especially in Covid times to avoid queues and close contact with others.

This tie will need to be decided on the night, so you could potentially be in your seat for a little while longer if the game goes to penalties. Good news for those who want to get away early? No extra-time will be played, so this game is likely to be done and dusted before 10pm.
