Harry, 37, is in New York City with his wife, Meghan Markle, 40 - the couple's first major trip since leaving the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to appear at the Global Citizen Live event in New York on Saturday. The Sussexes will lend their voices to calls for the more equitable rollout of COVID-19 vaccines and to bring an end to extreme world poverty.

The New York event - one of six being held across the world - will feature musical performances from Billie Eilish, Coldplay and other stars.

Harry has become more accustomed to the American way of life since marrying Meghan, who was born in Los Angeles and previously starred in US legal drama, 'Suits'.

In July the Duke of Sussex said he would pen an "honest and captivating" account of his time as a royal, which is set to be published next year.

Royal historian Dr Edward Owens claimed to Express.co.uk that Harry's popularity in the UK had slipped since his royal exit and that he is hoping to attract American fans with the memoir.

Meghan Markle 'planning low-key dinner' for Harry's 37th birthday Harry and Meghan will be shying away from the spotlight for the prince's 37th birthday this year and will mark the occasion with an intimate dinner instead, DailyMail.com can reveal. A source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex says the couple have opted for a small and more relaxed celebration amid recent world events, and are now focusing on 'being of service' rather than being socialites. 'Meghan is planning a low-key birthday dinner for Harry. In light of what's happening in the world - from Afghanistan to Covid - they both decided to keep it simple,' the insider told DailyMail.com.

"It's being largely written for an American audience, he's damaged goods in the UK.

"In the British public opinion polls, he's really fallen from grace.

"The British public have very little time for Harry compared to pre the start of 2019."

Opinion poll data from research company YouGov shows that Harry's approval rating was 71 percent in October 2019.

However, the Duke's favourability rating dropped sharply at the beginning of 2020 after the announcement that he and Meghan would step away from their royal roles.

A YouGov poll of 1,624 participants conducted from January 9-10 last year showed that Harry's score had plummeted to 55 percent.

It has since declined even further to 44 percent this month, according to another YouGov poll of 1,667 people taken from August 27-29.

Positive opinions of Meghan also slipped from 55 percent in October 2019 to 49 percent in January 2020, and then to 33 percent this month.

Dr Owens is the author of 'The Family Firm. Monarchy, Mass Media and the British Public, 1932-53'.

He claimed that Harry and Meghan were pushing to expand their array of media opportunities.

He said: "Harry is a multimillionaire, but he's not exceedingly rich.

"I think on that basis he and Meghan are looking at as many commercial ventures as they possibly can take on, they are living the American dream in that respect."

The Queen confirmed in February that Harry and Meghan would not return as working royals.

She also said the honorary military appointments and royal patronages she bestowed upon the Sussexes would be returned.

Harry's memoir is due to be published late next year by Penguin Random House, with the proceeds to be donated to charity.
