Waterloo Road was the angsty teen drama that had its fair share of scandalous plotlines. Now, BBC have announced a new series is set to make a comeback.
Gracing our screens for more than nine years and 200 episodes, Waterloo Road was a trailblazer in the way it tackled taboo subjects in its writing.
Topics like teen pregnancy, murder and alcoholism were just a few of the storylines that gripped viewers before it reached its dramatic end in 2015.
One of the main things that viewers came to love the series for was its large turnover of cast members – the main cast itself consisted of a staggering 48 people.

But since those school gates came to a close, many of the iconic stars of Waterloo Road have gone on to be recognised elsewhere on screen.
From Bridgerton to Strictly Come Dancing, here’s what some of those well recognised faces have been up to…
Regé Jean-Page – Guy Braxton
The now famed Bridgerton Duke actually paved his acting path on Waterloo Road.
Regé played the role of Guy Braxton, a young teacher, in the 10th and final series. He starred in the show from October 2014 to March 2015 and joined the series in its 13th episode.
Having been released last Christmas to eager Netflix fans, Bridgerton saw most of the world swoon over Regé.
With news of him not joining the second series, he has spread his acting wings and is set to join the cast of upcoming Netflix movie, The Gray Man.

He has also been cast as Simon Templar in the upcoming reboot of The Saint.
Jenna Coleman – Lindsay
Jenna Coleman is one Waterloo Road’s biggest stars to come out and make her own way in the acting world.
Coming into the series with a bang, Jenna’s character was hiding one of the series’ biggest secrets – that her mum killed her dad.
Since the drama of Waterloo Road, Jenna went onto star in Emmerdale between 2005 and 2009 as Jasmine Thomas.
She then went onto play Clara Oswald, the Doctor’s assistant in Doctor Who and played the lead role in ITV’s Victoria.
Most recently, she had a starring role as Marie-Andrée Leclerc in the Netflix and BBC drama, The Serpent, a dramatisation of the true story of convicted serial killer Charles Sobhraj.
She is set to star in dark comedy, Klokkenluider, Dutch for 'Whistleblower'.
She will also be playing the lead role and is the executive producer of The War Rooms, which will tell the untold stories of the women who worked in Winston Churchill’s secret Whitehall bunker during World War II.

The TV show first aired in 2006 - but will it continue to boast an impressive selection of A-list actors like before? The exciting news has been shared by the BBC, with the news that the filming location of the show has been moved from Scotland to Manchester. A tweet posted from the official Waterloo Road account read: "Psst. We've heard a rumour going around school" alongside a snap of a piece of paper. © Twitter Waterloo Road is set to return "Brand new Waterloo Road coming soon!" was scrawled on the image. Under the social media announcement, fans shared their joy at the show coming back.
Chelsee Healey – Janeece
Having been one of Waterloo Road’s longest standing actresses, Chelsee Healey left the role in 2009 to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, where she came runner-up with partner Pasha Kovalev.
Since then, she’s starred in Casualty and most recently, plays Goldie McQueen in Hollyoaks.
She has also appeared in various reality TV series like Bear Grylls: Mission Survive and 2019’s sixth series of E4’s Celebs Go Dating.
Neil Morrisey – Eddie
Neil Morrisey played deputy head teacher Eddie Lawson but that’s only part of his hugely successful acting career.
Neil played corrupt police officer DC Nigel Morton in beloved BBC drama, Line of Duty.
He has also appeared in many popular TV shows such as Death in Paradise, Grantchester, The Good Karma Hospital and Unforgotten.
Phoebe Dynevor – Siobhan
While many of us will recognise Phoebe alongside Regé for being the captivating duo that fronted the last series of Bridgerton, Phoebe actually landed her first big acting role in Waterloo Road.

She regularly starred alongside Jenna Coleman in the fifth series of the show between 2009 and 2010.
Now, Phoebe is set to reprise Daphne’s role in Bridgerton’s second series and also take up her feature film debut as Clarice Cliff in period drama film, The Colour Room for Sky Cinema.
Katie McGlynn – Scout
Katie won the hearts of viewers in her portrayal of Sinead in Coronation Street from 2013 to 2020.
Her cervical cancer storyline sadly ended in 2020 but before that, viewers would have recognised her as tearaway pupil Jodie ‘Scout’ Allen in Waterloo Road.
She starred in the BBC series from 2011 to 2013 where her character was forced to deal drugs and steal in order to provide for her family.
Now, Katie can be found currently appearing in the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing with partner Gorka Marquez.
Adam Thomas – Donte
Adam’s role as troublesome Donte saw a rocky relationship with Chlo and reckless behaviour.
Since leaving Waterloo Road in 2009, he starred in Emmerdale as Adam Barton for nine years and left the soap in 2018.
He has since appeared in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! where he finished third and starred in BBC drama, Moving On.
He also has opened a restaurant with his school friend Scott Graham in Stockport, named The Spinn.
