Coronation Street has bagged itself another honour for its Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin hate crime storyline.

In scenes that aired in May this year, the two Weatherfield lovebirds were brutally attacked by a group of thugs led by Corey Brent. While the attack resulted in Seb's death shortly after the attack, it was only recently that the killer got his just deserts as Corey was finally arrested and sent down for his actions.

Now it's been confirmed that the storyline – from the unprovoked attack on Seb and Nina, through to investigation and ultimate prosecution plots – has been named Best Storyline at the Inside Soap Awards 2021.

"I hope it will help anyone who is struggling to find the confidence to express themselves and be who they want to be."

Inside Soap editor Gary Gillatt also commented: "Nearly 90,000 Inside Soap readers voted for this year's awards, and the hate crime storyline was a clear and worthy winner – showcasing Corrie's writers and cast at their very best.
