Great British Bake Off fans are convinced that Crystelle Pereira lost the Channel 4 show due to her soggy, under baked focaccia.

In the tense finale, Giuseppe Dell’Anno was crowned the winner of the Bake Off 2021, beating Crystelle and ‘Chigs’ Chirag to the title.

Bake off viewers were adamant that Crystelle, who is the youngest finalist to date, was on her way to securing the iconic title until the slip up with her bread in the showstopper, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party challenge.

One fan tweeted: “I think Crystelle could’ve won it if weren’t for the uncooked focaccia.”

Why was Noel Fielding absent from Bake Off? Here's what you need to know

Why was Noel Fielding absent from Bake Off? Here's what you need to know Bake Off fans noticed Noel Fielding wasn't on a recent episode of the show, so just where was he? What you need to knowNoel presents the baking must-watch alongside Matt Lucas, however after not being on a recent episode, viewers were left wondering where he'd gone.

Another despaired: “Uh oh....Crystelle's focaccia is raw... that may have cost her dearly.”

A third added: "I thought Crystelle had this wrapped up until that focaccia botch, now I don't know.”

The 26 year old baker was having an excellent week, winning the technical Belgian buns challenge and delighting judges, Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith, with her delightful flavour combinations.

Before the decisive showstopper challenge, Paul even commented that Crystelle was pushing slightly ahead of the other two contestants after her performance in the nail-biting finale.

As the judges tucked into her impressive Mad Hatter’s tea party they commented on the amazing flavours of the other elements, before spotting the raw focaccia.

Great British Bake Off viewers are disheartened as Amanda is sent home This week's pastry challenge proved a difficult one for the contestants as they were faced with three trials to keep their place on the Channel 4 series. Amanda ended up being the one sent packing and, speaking after her elimination, said: 'You've got to go some time haven't you?''I didn't think when I got here I'd get that far after seeing all the other bakers.

In pure confusion, Crystelle apologised and said: “I don’t know what happened, that’s bizarre.”

Prue Leith called the colossal error a “pity” as the rest of the showstopper was a vibrant tribute to Alice in Wonderland and most importantly, delicious.

Crystelle continued: “Obviously I focus on the negatives, but that was a big fat negative in there. I’m just baffled, how the h*** did that happen to my foccacia?”

One Bake Off fan tweeted: “Thought they were setting #Crystelle up for the win but she may have thrown it away with that focaccia.”

Another echoed: “They've each had errors and highs but I think Crystelle's focaccia has cost her the title.”

In spite of missing out on crown, Crystelle burst into screams of joy as Giuseppe’s name was called out as the 12th baker to win the beloved baking competition.

In an emotional statement, while clutching her enormous bouquet of flowers, Crystelle gushed: “I am so happy for Giuseppe, I’m getting emotional.

“He’s an incredible guy, so genuine, he’s an incredible baker, his family are going to be so proud of him.”

Even though, Giuseppe’s skills were the key to his success, some fans have suggested his secret win was due to the fact that he kissed Mr Spactula after the other two declined.
