And Adam has finally revealed himself that he has "no plans" to return to Albert Square any time soon.

Ahead of his appearance in Gwrych Castle, he was asked whether he had been asked to appear on the reality show before.

"No, not that I'm aware of," he replied. "Last December, ITV asked me and I said yes."

Quizzed on whether he would be back in Walford after I'm A Celeb, he said: "So I literally come out of the castle whenever that is, have Christmas off and then we’re back into rehearsals because Laurie Brett’s taking over from Gaynor Faye.

"And then we’re doing that until the end of April.

"It’s been a lot of fun working and seeing [Laurie] again. It’s kind of bittersweet.

"I’m looking forward to Laurie coming in, I’m going to miss Gaynor because she’s been an absolute joy to work with. It’s been wonderful."

Adam confessed that he was "nervous" to appear on the show but said that he knew what he was letting himself in for.

"Like everyone I've watched this series since the start with Tony Blackburn," he said. "I know what I've let myself in for."

Asked whether he was looking forward to fans to see what he was really like, he said: "Ian is a character on a TV programme.

"That was just a job. [ I'm A Celeb ] is a different thing."

Adam will be entering the Welsh castle late alongside fellow soap legend Simon Gregson, best known for playing hapless Steve McDonald in Coronation Street .

"I think it will be nice for people who are fans of the show to see a different side," he said. "How big a difference that side is yet to be seen! They might just be like, 'Oh my god, he's just like Steve!'

"So yeah, it will be nice for people to see a different side."

However, he also admitted that he is worried that he will just be so nervous that his personality won't really be able to shine.

Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson's I'm A Celeb entrance confirmed as ITV teases arrival

Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson's I'm A Celeb entrance confirmed as ITV teases arrival EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt and Coronation Street star Simon Gregson have been confirmed for ITV's I'm A Celebrity 2021 with their entrance teased on Wednesday's episodeIt was announced at the end of Wednesday's episode that the EastEnders star, 53, and Coronation Street star, 47, would be entering the Gwrych Castle camp on Thursday's show.

He continued: "When you're doing something like this, if nerves get the better of you, it's kind of hard to show your true side anyway! So maybe it's time to relax and tell some stories, so they'll get to see a different side. But who knows!

"I might be a complete ball of nerves and won't be able to speak at all!"

Simon has been asked many times to take part in I'm A Celeb, but revealed that he had decided to star in the show this year after discovering that it would be in Wales.

He also admitted that his wife Emma and their sons - Alfie, Harry and Henry - have been pestering him to take part for a while too.

"The kids every year have said, 'Do the show, do the show' and I just couldn't put up with that chant anymore," he said. "So I went, 'Right, I'll do the show!'

"So when I heard it was in Wales I was like, 'Oh! That might be a bit better.' Because who wants to sit on a plane for five days? So I was like, 'OK, yeah, let's do it.' So here I am, about to do it!"

The soap actor added that another positive is that "in Australia, everything is designed to kill you".

"I think Wales is a bit tamer - well, famous last words," he said as he explained the advice that Corrie stars had given him ahead of taking part on the show.

"They said it is a bit of a hard [thing] to do because of course the food isn't great - rice and beans all the time - but for me, it's a bonus because I desperately need to lose weight so I'm kind of looking at it as the worst boot camp in the world!"
