And Catherine Tyldesley is the latest star to showcase her Christmas tree in the run up to the big day, giving fans a look at the elaborately decorated spruce in a series of Instagram snaps shared on Wednesday.

The pregnant former Coronation Street star, 38, declared: 'It’s officially Christmas in our house!' as she showed off her stunning tree and garlands which were dressed in gorgeous rose gold ornaments and baubles.

And the she recently revealed the hilarious moment that her son Alfie, six, requested a baby brother when he discovered he was having a little sister.

The former Corrie actress shared her son's reaction to the news as he exclaimed that he would prefer to have a brother.

Speaking in an exclusive with Ok!, she said: 'Alfie is so excited about becoming a brother. When we discovered it was a girl Alfie did ask the doctor if he could change it to a boy.'

She added: 'I'm sure he'll get over it bless him. He's really excited though, he can't wait.'

The star said that she is looking forward to seeing her son hold her daughter for the first time when she arrives.

Speaking to the MailOnline she said that although little Alfie wasn't too keen on the idea of being a big brother at first, he's since come around.

'We were a bit nervous, because I remember asking him a while back ''would you like a brother or sister?'' and his response was ''mummy I'd rather you didn't'',' she laughed.

'We waited until after the 12 week scan to tell him and he took it really well. He was super excited and we were thrilled to bits.'
