Hollyoaks is lining up some heartbreaking scenes this Christmas for Cindy Cunningham and Luke Morgan.

Luke was diagnosed with FTD Pick's disease, which is also known as frontotemporal dementia, a few years ago, which came after he was told he'd had shrinking at the front of his brain.

Pick's disease is characterised by its rapid progression and has no known cure, with a doctor explaining to Luke at the time: "It's a problem with your brain cells, causing a decline in behaviour, speech, memory and movement."

In upcoming scenes later this month, Cindy worries that this could be Luke's last Christmas, and makes an effort to ensure it's an extra special one.

However, things don't go exactly to plan, as Luke reacts in an unexpected way to Cindy's decorating. Things are exacerbated for her when Luke forgets which sister he is meant to be with, leaving her heartbroken.

Yet all hope may not be lost after all, especially after Zara Morgan comes across something special.
