Would I Lie To You star Lee Mack revealed that he was once forced to shut down claims that his stunning wife only got with him after he became famous.

The comedian married his wife back in 2005, but he has joked that people assume his other half was only attracted to him because of his fame and success.

One fellow comedian's sister even asked if Lee had to do something heroic to save her life in order to convince her to go out with him, Lee once revealed.

Gentleman Jack series 2 release date, cast, plot and everything you need to know

Gentleman Jack series 2 release date, cast, plot and everything you need to know Jack the lass, Jack the lass, everyone loves a Jack the lass…BBC One and HBO's groundbreaking Gentleman Jack saw Suranne Jones take on the role of real-life lesbian pioneer Anne Lister, who pushed the limits of acceptable conduct in Georgian Yorkshire, refused the role assigned to her by society and lived, as we'd say now, her truth.

According to the Express, speaking on a podcast last year, Lee said: “We talked the other day with Roisin Conaty.

"Her sister met Tara and said 'I assume you two have been together after you became a comedian and a bit of money.'

"And I said 'no, no, we met before I ever was a comedian when we were at university.'

"And she looked aghast at why this woman would be with me.

"I thought that's an incredibly bold statement to make after five minutes of meeting someone."

Lee and Tara married in 2005 and they have three children, Arlie, Louie, and Millie.

The comedian normally prefers to keep his family life out of the spotlight, however he did open up about life as a dad in 2017 while talking to the Radio Times.

Speaking of the series Not Going Out, Lee said: "They're really not bothered whether it’s on or not. My wife doesn't really watch it and although my eldest has just started to, it's not his favourite show by a long way – and why would it be?"

He continued: "The only feedback I get from him is the occasional slightly arched eyebrow if he likes one of my character's jokes. That's high praise in my house. He did actually appear in the 2013 Christmas special."
