After Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) recently beat up Steve, a man who’d been shouting homophobic slurs at him and a friend in the street in EastEnders he’s been nervously waiting to see if his crime will be found out by the police.

Sharon (Letitia Dean) is an actual witness to the crime, after walking past as it was happening. She initially covered for Ben and told Callum (Tony Clay) that she found the man unconscious, so Ben is hopeful that she’ll continue to keep quiet for his sake and pleads with her to give him an alibi if he needs one.

In upcoming episodes he starts to feel guilty about what he did to Steve and decides to go and visit him. He speaks to Steve’s mum and tells her that he’s one of her son’s friends.

Kat blames Phil for Tommy's stabbing horror in EastEnders Kat tells Phil he's a terrible influence.Tommy has been bullied for a long time, and in despair he recently grabbed a knife from the kitchen, thinking that it would offer him some protection against the bullying if he had a weapon.

Soon after this Callum and Jack (Scott Maslen) go to talk to Steve’s mother about the attack and she tells them that someone who was describing himself as a friend of Steve’s had visited earlier, but she didn’t recognise him.

Callum and Jack are suspicious that this man could be a key to the crime, and they say they’ll check local CCTV to see if they can spot who it might be.

And when they look at the footage, there’s one person they recognise – Ben Mitchell.

Is Ben going to be able to talk his way out of trouble – or is he heading for jail?
