"It was just a shock initially."As the air date for the final ever episode of Neighbours approaches, star Jackie Woodburne has shared her thoughts on the soap's end as well as revealing how the news was received on set.
EastEnders has welcomed the iconic Neighbours actor Alan Fletcher, who plays Karl Kennedy on the beloved Aussie TV show, to Walford. The BBC soap are paying tribute to Neighbours as it comes to an end with the final ever episode airing today (July, 29) on Channel 5 at 9pm.
The long-running Australian show appears to be receiving the send-off it deserves after gracing our screens for a glorious 37 years. And what better way is there than for another popular soap acknowledging the fantastic characters and storylines Neighbours has consistently delivered during its run?

A touching tribute.
In a short social media clip on the official BBC EastEnders' account, Kelly Bright, who portrays Linda Carter, is seen sat at Bridge Street Café in Albert Square, where she says: "Isn't it sad that Neighbours is about to have its final episode?" Whitney Dean actress Shona McGarty , then replies with: "I know."
Linda adds: "I love catching up with them all. You know, always looking gorgeous in the sunshine." Alan is then seen entering the café. Whitney, appearing to not know who is is, asks him: "You alright there mate? You look a bit lost..."
Alan cheekily responds with: "Yeah, I'm looking for a black cab. Apparently it's the easiest way to make a swift exit from around here." Shocked, Kelly says: "It's Dr. Karl Kennedy! Oh well. I'm such a big fan", before pulling him over for a selfie.
Neighbours fans react to emotional finale as the show comes to an end
Lots of cameos. Lots of tears.Neighbours aired its hour-long finale in the UK tonight (July 29), and it had fans of the long-time show feeling extremely emotional.
Accompanying the social media video is a sweet message that the soap added. It reads: "Is that Dr Karl Kennedy in Walford?! From everyone here at #EastEnders, thank you @Neighbours for 37 wonderful soap years!"
Many fans were absolutely delighted by the clip. One person wrote: "Awh this is lovely very nice of them to do this", whilst another added: "That really did it for me; I'm gutted. Than you so much for the lovely tribute to our utterly brilliant show, it means a lot that you went to the trouble."
